Department: The Salvation Army Tabernacle Corps

Availability of Position: Immediate (1 position)

Schedule:  Part time plus, up to 29 hours weekly - Monday-Friday

Reporting Relationship: Corps Officer

Salary and Grade: $10.50 per hour, 71 non-exempt

Position Overview:

The function of the Building Custodian is to direct, oversee, and lead all aspects of the Philadelphia Tabernacle Corps building maintenance in order for there to be a clean and safe environment for the program participants and the staff of the Tabernacle Corps at all times, including, but not limited to, facility cleanliness, equipment maintenance, property repairs, property, and yearly inspections.

Responsibilities

Description of Position:

• Direct, oversee and lead the janitorial (cleaning) duties, including both the building and the corresponding grounds. During winter months, this also includes snow removal from sidewalks surrounding the building. (See cleaning tasks below.)
• Ensure all equipment is maintained in excellent working order.
• Perform property repairs and, when needed, reach out to appropriate vendors for further assistance.
• Manage property vendor relationships, including maintaining an extensive reliable list of needed services, contacting them as appropriate, and directing them when they arrive at the Corps.
• Maintain a listing of all required yearly inspections, ensure they are completed promptly, and maintain accurate and easily assessable records.
• Receive and store deliveries made to the Corps.
• Assist with special projects and events.
• Be available on an on-call basis for problems or concerns related to the cleaning, operation, and safety of the building.
• Perform related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
• Operate janitorial machinery.
• Valid PA driver's license
• Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 along with renewals every five years.
• Must have an understanding of and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
