The SAFE Alliance is Hiring a Parent Educator Near Austin, TX

SAFE Alliance seeks a Parent Educator for the Resident & Family Support Program in the Strong Start & Fatherhood Program department. When necessary, the Parent Educator will refer clients to appropriate resources and services to meet those needs. The Parent Educator may work with clients individually or in a group form and must be able to collaborate with other social service entities for the benefit of the program and the families we serve.

The SAFE Alliance exists to stop abuse for everyone by serving the survivors of child abuse, sexual assault and exploitation, and domestic violence. We are dedicated to ending violence through prevention, advocacy, and comprehensive services for individuals, families, and communities that have been affected by abuse.

In the past two years, our community outreach and education has provided over 400 trainings to over 7,000 community members. Our various housing and shelter programs have provided over 46,000 nights/days of care and served over 3,000 youth and adults directly affected by abuse. We have provided over 10,000 callers/chats/texts, walk-in advocacy and crisis interventions or face-to-face emotional support through our 24/7 confidential SAFEline.

Position Details:

We are looking for two people to work on a full-time, non-exempt basis for an annual salary of $46,500 to $48,000 dependent upon experience and an additional annual language differential of $3,600 for those who are English/Spanish bilingual. One of the two positions is Bilingual required; in order to be considered for this position, an applicant must meet the English/Spanish Bilingual Requirement. The work location will be based at our Rathgeber Village Campus in the Mueller area. This position will include some travel in the community or between campuses and will allow for some remote/hybrid work.

  • Benefit plans and benefit start dates are prorated based on date of hire and hours worked. Eligibility in employer paid benefits, paid time off and holidays are dependent upon full-time employment status and/or hours worked and may be subject to change.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in a health and human services field, social work or early childhood development; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of direct service experience working in health and human services field, preferably with vulnerable or at-risk families.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries while providing supportive services.
  • Good organizational skills, as well as ability to effectively plan, schedule and manage a diverse number of projects to completion in a timely manner.
  • Has valid Infant/Child CPR and First Aid card to be acquired before serving children.
  • Is knowledgeable of healthy childhood development, the impact of abuse/neglect/trauma on development, and the signs/symptoms of abuse and neglect.
  • Is available to provide home visits on evenings and/or weekends (as needed), and on an emergency basis.
  • Is knowledgeable of various community resources and services that may benefit families served and is able to effectively collaborate with various entities for the benefit of the client.
  • With reasonable accommodation, this position requires the manual dexterity to sufficiently operate phones, computers, and other office equipment.
  • The ability to clearly and accurately communicate to convey information using both the Spanish and English language, verbally and in writing is required for one position but preferred for both.
  • Visual acuity capable of drafting, editing, reviewing, and/or comprehending materials in a standard typeface size 10 font or above, are required.
  • This position requires driving. You must have a valid, State of Texas Driver's License (If in possession of an out-of-state license, obtain a State of Texas Driver's License within 90 days of beginning employment.) AND at least three (3) consecutive years of driving experience OR one (1) year of driving experience if over 27 years of age AND an acceptable driving record that covers at least the last three years of driver history.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check if applicable), as well as a pre-employment drug screen and TB test, if applicable.
