Caregiver Personal Assistant for in-home client through IDHS

This position is offered by a private, in-home client who receives Home Services through the Illinois Department of Human Services.

About the client:

Jill is an upbeat 43-year-old woman who loves Elton John, sloths, crafting, and her cat, Violet. She was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and uses a motorized wheelchair for mobility.

Basic Job Duties

· Assist with mobility, transfers using Hoyer lift.

· Personal hygiene assistance, including toileting, dental hygiene, bathing, and personal grooming.

· Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, eating, and positioning in wheelchair.

· Transportation in client’s wheelchair-accessible mini van for appointments, shopping, or personal errands.

Qualifications

· Caregiving experience preferred, but not required.

· Ability to use proper body mechanics when moving and positioning client, OR willingness to learn and utilize these techniques.

· Must be current on vaccinations, including COVID-19 and annual influenza due to client’s immune-compromised status OR be willing to receive updated vaccinations within one week of employment. Find information about free vaccines at https://www.vaccines.gov/.

· Must have reliable transportation.

· Be 18 years old or older.

· Possess a valid Driver’s License.

· Have a Social Security Number.

· Be legally eligible for work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.25 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 42 per week

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred) but not necessary.

Work Location: In person are seeking compassionate individuals to join our team as Personal Care Assistants. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily activities, promoting their independence and well-being.

Responsibilities:

- Assist clients with personal care tasks, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
- Help with meal preparation and feeding
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Perform light housekeeping tasks
- Escort clients to appointments or outings
- Monitor and report changes in client's health or behavior

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a caregiver or personal care assistant is a plus
- Compassionate and patient demeanor
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively
- Physical ability to lift and move clients safely
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is desirable
