JOB DESCRIPTION
The purpose of Housekeeping Manager (HM) position at The Rose Hotel Chicago O’Hare, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is to provide world class service to all guests. The Housekeeping Manager will train and supervise the operations of the Housekeeping department so that they provide superior customer service, promote a safe environment and quality service to achieve maximum guest satisfaction, protection of assets and minimal expenses. The HM supervises daily operation in maintaining the maintenance/sanitation of the guest rooms and public areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
§ The HM position is that of a working manager and is expected to fill shifts when needed
§ The HM must be capable to work on any shift and must be on-call 24/7 including weekends and holidays
§ Supervise and inspect the daily cleaning of the guest rooms, public areas and back of the house
§ Supervise all rotational and special cleaning projects
§ Respond to guest requests, concerns and problems to ensure guest satisfaction
§ Manage the human resources in the department to attract, retain and motivate employees; hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication vehicles, discipline and terminate, as appropriate.
§ Maintains a continuous open-door policy to answer team member questions needing immediate attention
§ Ensure compliance with accident/loss prevention programs, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and health/sanitation standards and regulations to achieve a high level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
§ Assist in preparation of annual budget, ensuring department operates within approved budget.
§ Oversee inventory, purchasing, disbursement and cost control for all linens, cleaning, operating and guest supplies, uniforms and equipment
§ Refer and follow-up on maintenance issues/problems with engineering to protect hotel assets, ensure a safe, accident free environment for guests and employees and maintain/improve guest satisfaction
§ Monitor and report on expenses (payroll and supplies) to aid in controlling costs while ensuring adequate staff and supplies are on hand to provide top quality services.
§ Foster a cooperative working climate conducive to maximum employee morale and productivity
§ Ensure an effective and corrective interview program; maintain performance standards by training and conducting employee evaluations, and a thorough departmental orientation program for new hires.
§ Creates the weekly schedule for all positions within the housekeeping department.
§ Log items into the lost and found and answer inquiries to maintain controls and ensure guest satisfaction.
§ Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in hotel committees and task force assignments.
§ Attend weekly Group Resume meetings and other leadership meetings.
§ Keep constant open communication with the front office and maintenance departments.
CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GUEST SATISFACTION
§ Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and proper uniform within entire department
§ Greets guests, visitors and staff in a courteous and friendly manner
§ Smile, acknowledge and greet guests in rooms and/or in passing
§ Assists guests and team members with anything that they may need
§ Performs other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management
SAFETY AND SECURITY
§ Be proficient and train all team members in Safety and Security Policies
§ Report any suspicious activity of guest, visitors or staff
§ Maintains security for guests and property by keeping room doors locked at all times
§ Write up Guest Incident reports as needed
§ Perform duties in accordance with Safety and Security Policies
§ Perform duties in accordance with OSHA and Blood Borne Pathogens regulations
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
§ Physically and visually able to utilize a computer keyboard, printer, phones, and basic office supplies
§ Firm and simple grasping is an ongoing requirement for all aspects of work
§ Lifting of supplies occurs occasionally, usually not more than 25 lbs. but may be up to 50 lbs.
§ Able to stand and walk 90% of the work day and sitting is usually limited to short break
§ Reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crouching, twisting of the body, and bending is frequently required
SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
§ High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent years of relevant work experience required
§ Previous Housekeeping or hotel experience required
§ Requires thorough knowledge of the housekeeping field
§ Requires supervision/management skills
§ Fluency in Spanish is highly recommended
§ Excellent vision necessary for constant walkthrough checks and to analyze reports
§ Friendly demeanor, and excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills
§ Prior computer experience using windows-based software preferred
