Aquatics Manager – Summer Programs
The Roeper SchoolSummer Programs is recruiting for an Aquatics Manager to oversee all water-based activities at summer camp and our Make-A-Splash program. The Aquatics manager ensures safety protocols are followed, supervises lifeguards, conducts safety drills, and coordinates and supervises swim lessons, including training staff who provide swim lessons. The Aquatics Manager will provide full-time onsite supervision during the eight-week camp season. The 2024 summer camp season begins in mid-June and concludes in mid-August. The day shift position may require occasional hours outside of the standard shift. Prior to the start of camp, the Aquatic Manager is expected to work sufficient part-time hours to prepare for camp.
Role:
Supervise the work of aquatic staff, safeguarding patrons and other persons using the swimming pool or facilities
Supervise the enforcement of rules and regulations relating to pool
Serve as Team Leader for Swim Instructors and Lifeguards
Develop and implement aquatic program policies and procedures
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of campers and staff during aquatic activities
Oversee swim instructors and lifeguards by providing safety training and instructional technique
Schedule swim groups for swim lessons for camp and the Make-a-Splash Program
Schedule lifeguard rotations for lifeguards during the camp day
Schedule and run weekly safety drills for the pool staff
Communicate effectively with camp leadership and parents/guardians regarding aquatics program updates and concerns
Communicate and cooperate with maintenance staff regarding pool chemical levels and cleanliness of the pool and surrounding areas
Utilize skills to contribute to the school’s goal to provide a multicultural and culturally relevant program, in accordance with Roeper's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice
Qualifications and Skills:
Water Safety Instructor Certification
Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR Certification
Lifeguard Management Certificate
Effective communication skills; basic computer competency essential
Ability to form collaborative work relationships
Demonstrated commitment to cultural competency work in order to perform responsibilities in accordance with Roeper's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice
A collegial approach and congenial temperament in line with Roeper School’s “collaborative culture” characterized by diversity and teamwork.
Preparation
High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree and 2 years of experience lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons.
