About the Opportunities

The RCOC is looking for a full-time Civil Engineering Supervisor, Road Project Design to join our team. This role is based in Beverly Hills, Michigan. The position is required to be on-site, for both collaboration and cooperation among the teams.

Reporting to the Manager, Design Engineer, you will work on a wide range of road projects including resurfacing, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and bridge/culvert replacements.

Your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads, coordinates, participates and completes the preparation of final plans, specifications, and estimates for assigned road, culvert, and bridge projects
  • Exercises engineering judgment to deliver a phase of various road and bridge projects
  • Evaluates various reports and information, including geotechnical investigation reports, utility record drawings, as-builts, property/right-of-way information, materials testing reports, and inspection reports
  • Ensuring engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates are accurate and complete
  • Liaising with utility companies to identify utility conflicts and relocations
  • Managing the acquisition of permits and liaising with various agencies
  • Overseeing consultants, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget adherence
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, communities, and the general public
  • Delivering project documents in a timely manner
  • Supervising staff: hiring, termination, prioritization, scheduling, training, addressing concerns and appraisals, and fostering employee-management communication
  • Performing related work as required

About You

To qualify, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, and 5 years of progressive road design and engineering experience, project management experience and experience supervising a team of engineers.

You must also have:

  • Demonstrated experience applying knowledge of state and federal road design standards
  • Established expertise using software programs, including AutoCad Civil 3D and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with multiple stakeholders
  • Proven experience presenting to and interacting with community officials, representatives, and members of the public
  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and written communication
  • A Professional Engineer License (asset)
  • Bridge design and engineering experience (asset)
