About the River Merchant

With a seasonal patio that overlooks the Cuyahoga River and a unique rustic gastropub vibe, The River Merchant is Kent's premier riverfront restaurant! We are located at 911 North Mantua Street in Kent, Ohio, only a half-mile from downtown Kent. Our hours of operation are 11 AM to 9 PM (Sun–Thu) and 11 AM to 10 PM (Fri–Sat).

Summary of job posting

We are looking for an experienced server (full-time or part-time) who is willing to contribute to our team goals, is calm under pressure, and who is dependable, diligent, attentive, and communicative. While we are searching for an experienced server, we are adamant about training to work within our system. We are also willing to train in other positions if proper work ethic is shown to reflect a positive output.

Responsibilities

• Properly greeting and creating dialogue with guests to create a great experience

• Correctly take orders from guests and communicate with kitchen and bar

• Running food, pre-bussing, and final bussing tables

• Setting up and preparing for shifts as well as cleaning up at the end of shifts

Requirements

• Reliable transportation to/from the River Merchant (Kent, OH) (Required)

• 3-5 years of prior serving experience (Required)

• High integrity with a great attendance record

• Able to learn and adapt to new environments

• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lb. climb ladders, and perform manual tasks

• Able to work in varying temperature conditions, particularly in the summer months

• Good communication skills, including the ability vocalize properly, listen effectively, and provide insightful feedback as needed

Shift duration availability (M–S)

• Day shift: 6 hr (10 AM to 4 PM)

• Night shift: 6–8 hr (3 or 4 PM to 10 or 11 PM)

• Mid-shift: Varies
