8:30am - 5:00pm Monday, July 8 - Friday, August 2, 2024, plus pre-production meetings as scheduled by arrangement in months leading up to workshops

Program Description

The RTBK summer workshops are non-audition based musical theater workshops culminating in performances for family and friends. Current programming includes two 2-week summer workshops.

Role Description

To provide support to the Ridgefield Theater Barn Kids (RTBK) Summer Program Director (SPD) as it relates to the development and execution of programming, preparation of materials, teaching and supervising students, and providing musical accompaniment. In addition, the SPAD is responsible for assisting the SPD and RTB office with administrative tasks relating to the program. There is room for growth in this position with an opportunity for advancement.

Qualifications & Experience

• BA degree or in the process of undergraduate studies
• Minimum 2-years experience working in teaching and/or children’s theater at the elementary-/middle-school level, or relevant experience.
• Strong musicianship skills
• Experience with a culture of process before product
• Professional accompaniment experience

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Willingness to support and apply the RTB values of inclusion, respect, and joy to any and all interpersonal verbal and written interactions with students, parents, colleagues, and supervisors
• Participate in schedule development, including pre-production and registration information
• Attend all RTBK Summer Workshop staff meetings
• Daily check-ins and debriefings with RTBK SPD
• Participate in content selection and development
• Participate in early drop-off programming content
• Prompt arrival by 8:30am to prepare for student arrival and check-in
• Depart only once all students have been signed out by parents
• Monitor and respond to parent emails & phone calls with support from RTB office
• Participate in all aspects of production
• Work with RTB office on Barn swag for kids, photos, SM posts
• Build positive relationships with parents

• Strong musicianship: vocal and piano training including ability to arrange, transpose, accompany, and modify material to fit the needs of the ensemble and young voices
• Vocal instruction and ensemble direction, including warm-ups & exercises
• Some basic choreography/movement experience
• Working knowledge of stagecraft and elements of production
• Ability to accompany and actively support students in a 60-minute musical theater production

Job Types: Contract, Temporary

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
