PRESS OPERATOR

Location: South Park

Department: Production

Reports To: Production Manager

Direct Reports: No

Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $22 - $26.50 DOE

Shifts Available: 12 Hour Shift, Friday – Sunday (6am-6:30pm)

SUMMARY

We are looking for a Press Support person who will be directly supporting a Flexographic Press Operator, running state-of-the-art, modern HD Flexo film presses featuring low-migration/low-odor UV inks, LED curing, defect detection, auto registration and more.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist press operators with tasks pertinent to press operation; inks, rollers, stock, dies, add-ons, cleaning of parts, assistance with repairs, assistance with re-webbing of press and so on
  • Clean/wash all needed press stations immediately when press is down. Including: Ink pumps, Anilox rolls, doctor blade chambers, and overflow trays
  • Returns all press parts to their appropriate locations immediately upon completion of cleaning
  • Clean and wipe up any overflow that has occurred during a given press run in the ink station framework of the press
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the Anilox rollers for all presses
  • Job startup quality checklist, and roll / pull inspection
  • Hang rolls of stock and prep automatic turrets
  • Labeling and returning of unused stocks back to their appropriate area
  • Stock consumption documentation on work orders
  • Cutting and staging of cores for their jobs
  • Pump up ink stations
  • Installation and removal of Anilox rolls and print cylinders in and out of print decks
  • Ability to work with deadlines and adapt to changing production demands
  • Ability to work schedule as assigned

PRESSROOM RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the additive bottles at the press; filling them in the morning and when requested by the press operator
  • Mop and sweep entire floor in and around the press once a week. Including: moving carts, garbage cans, recycle bins, stock and other objects that can easily be moved out of the way.
  • Clean up all spills of any kind anywhere in the pressroom
  • Clean up all garbage, labels, pallets, cardboard and miscellaneous trash and debris that might be caused by an operator while trying to get the press running or while operating the press
  • Wipe down the sink thoroughly at the end of every shift
  • Drain clean and refill the Ultrasonic Anilox cleaning tank once a month

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • At least two years of machine operating experience
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Read and interpret written information
  • Strong math skills and excellent measurement skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position will be on the production floor in a warehouse setting
  • Stand for long periods of time, with standard rest-periods
  • Walk, stand, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • See and discern color
  • Exposure to and work near moving mechanical parts
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Noise level in the work environment can be loud
