The Retreat at Berryville is Hiring a Maintenance Director Near Berryville, VA

Our number one priority is to care for our Residents. We are looking for a reliable, skilled maintenance director who can perform essential upkeep tasks throughout the community. In this position, you must have technical knowledge and should have the manual dexterity necessary for this position. As the Maintenance Director, you are responsible for a wide variety of projects such as repairs and cleaning to help create a great living environment for our Residents.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred and knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC.

Minimum eligibility requirements

  • Relevant work experience (2 years preferred).
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, team members, vendors and the general public.
  • Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work responsibly as a team member as well as an individual.
  • Must be honest, fair, dependable, respect confidentiality and the rights and privacy of others.
  • Must have basic reporting and organizational skills.
  • Must have valid driver license.
  • Must meet all health requirements.
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (essential job functions), with or without reasonable accommodation.

Essential functions

  • Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program for the campus.
  • Oversees, coordinates, and completes appropriate tasks to maintain the facilities at the senior living community.
  • Completes tasks including but not limited to replacing light bulbs, maintaining the grounds, repairing electrical, painting, plumbing, cleaning gutters, HVAC, appliances, and coordination of trash removal.
  • Aware of state, federal, and other applicable safety regulations that apply to senior living and ensures buildings are in compliance with the regulations.
  • Works with community Executive Director to create and implement a plan of correction for any maintenance deficiencies that may be noted during facility surveys by government agencies.
  • Develops and maintains the policies and procedures of the maintenance department.
  • Completes routine inspections of life safety systems.
  • Coordinates the maintenance and repairs of residential units. Also, coordinates and completes necessary tasks and any repairs to prepare a unit for a new move-in.
  • Ensures maintenance tasks are performed within budget.
  • Coordinates and maintains the inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Customer service

  • Responsible for ensuring that all team members are providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Perform job duties for residents and with team members in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Take initiative to ensure resident safety and satisfaction is a priority.
  • Meet and greet visitors in a friendly, helpful manner (Visitors include anyone who visits the community; specifically, current residents’ families and friends, prospective residents and their families, referral sources, vendors and regulators).
  • Answer phones appropriately, according to company and community standards.

Residents’ rights

  • Ensure compliance and understanding of all regulations regarding residents’ rights.

Other

  • Follows & communicates company policies and procedures.

Working conditions (travel, hours, environment)

  • Scheduled hours; possible overtime. May work in other positions temporarily when necessary.
  • Is subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
  • Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., through the workday, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, and other air contaminants.
  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
