The Restaurant Zone is Hiring a Restaurant Director / Vice President of Strategic Operations and Development Near Carlsbad, CA

We're seeking a dynamic and strategic-minded Director to lead our growth initiatives, shape our long-term strategic direction, and assist in overseeing day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in restaurant operations, business development, strategic planning, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute growth strategies aligned with our mission and values. Identify market opportunities, assess competitive landscapes, and drive strategic initiatives to capitalize on emerging trends. Experience in taking brands into new markets out of state is a big plus. Identify margin expansion opportunities and sales-driving initiatives at the operational store level.
  • Business Development: Lead efforts to identify and evaluate potential expansion opportunities, including new locations, partnerships, and business ventures. Conduct market research, financial analysis, and feasibility studies to support decision-making.
  • Operational Oversight: Provide leadership and direction for day-to-day operations across all locations. Ensure operational excellence, consistency, and adherence to brand standards. This role involves overseeing high-level operations and guiding complicated situations or significant costs while working closely with department managers.
  • Facilities Development: Oversee the development and execution of NEW STORE build-out projects. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Also responsible for maintaining existing facilities, setting up processes to manage R&M spend, and dealing with permitting and government agencies.
  • Supply Chain Management: Optimize supply chain processes to enhance efficiency, minimize costs, and ensure product quality and consistency. This includes sourcing new items, negotiating direct contracts with manufacturers, and buying/managing key inputs like proteins.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team responsible for development, strategy, and operations. Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in restaurant operations, business development, and strategic planning, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Proven track record of driving business growth and executing strategic initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building abilities, with a focus on fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Fluent Spanish speaker is a significant advantage.
  • Must have experience in taking brands into new markets out of state and demonstrate a clear passion for the restaurant/hospitality industry.

Physical Demands: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk or in meetings with prolonged and repetitive use of a computer. Frequently standing, walking, bending, bending and twist neck and waist, reaching above and below shoulders and squat, using hands, reaching or grasping with hands and arms. Must be able to verbally communicate for extended periods of time.
Working Environment: Must be able to work in an office, restaurant, and outside environment. Must have a flexible schedule including weekends.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $140,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
