The primary role of the Counselor is to support residents diagnosed with eating disorders in their wellness and recovery. Counselors provide support by promoting skill building, maintaining a therapeutic environment, and applying appropriate interventions congruent with the Unified Treatment Model.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate therapeutic groups
  • Document in progress notes meal compliance, behaviors, and interventions in a timely fashion.
  • Monitor patient safety (including eating disordered behaviors) and intervenes with recovery-focused directives.
  • Provides 1:1 contact, individual support and crisis intervention as needed
  • Monitor bathroom activities and break times.
  • Monitor and support residents during meals and snacks.
  • Reports any changes in the residents’ physical and emotional well-being to the treatment team.
  • Attend and actively participate in supervision, rounds and treatment team meetings.

Education, Competencies and Credentials:

  • Minimum of Bachelors in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or similar
  • Experience with eating disorders preferred, but not required
  • CPR/AED certification required. On-line CPR certification will not be accepted.

Hours : 40 hours per week (Day Shift, Evening, and Overnight)
