The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia is Hiring a Research Specialist Intermediate Near Charlottesville, VA

The Department of Public Health Sciences at the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia is currently seeking a motivated individual to act as a research specialist and administrator to support faculty research and projects. Specific tasks would include coordinating and implementing research activities, research management, data management, and supporting routine and non-routine program administrative activities. Specific Responsibilities include: Assist with literature reviews and grant proposal preparation. Assist with grant report and manuscript preparation tasks. Assist with IRB applications. Assist with research management. Ensure completion of deliverables and adherence to timelines, track milestones and timelines across projects. Assist with writing standard operating procedures and other technical documents. Oversee the development of relevant project IRB submissions and manuals of operation, including submission to IRB and PIs for approval. Assist in routine office management tasks. Work directly with PI and other supervisory staff to help support routine and non-routine research activities. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree, MPH or similar preferred Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience. in behavioral, social, or public health research or practice. Advanced degree may be considered in lieu of experience. Master's degree will be considered in lieu of experience. Preferred Qualifications: Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently Proficiency with computer software, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel Proficiency with statistical analysis programs (including SAS, Stata, or R) and experience conducting simple statistical analyses Ability to understand research processes and procedures Experience with clinical research regulatory requirements and grant-funded projects, including experience with IRB submissions. Experience with REDCap data management is preferred Preference will be given to applicants with the ability to understand and apply knowledge from health data This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance.
