We have an opening for a House Supervisor. In this position you will serve as an advocate for the individuals served by The Phoenix Residence, Inc. You will perform, supervise, and assist with person-centered outcomes, and with the activities of daily living through teaching, training, development and implementation of active treatment and individual person-centered plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The House Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of day to day activities and routines performed by staff working directly with the individuals.

Management:

  • Is responsible for the training, supervision, evaluation and management of the Direct Support Professional staff.
  • Conduct required staff audits including: safety checks, equipment monitoring, medication administration observations, cooking observations, and all other audits used to measure and assure quality of services to the individuals.
  • Displays positive conduct and leadership, serves as a mentor and coach to Direct Support Professionals staff and individuals.
  • Evaluates employee performance and addresses performance issues according to established procedures in conjunction with the Program Manager.
  • The House Supervisor will demonstrate and train staff in the correct performance of all activities of daily living, community integration, medication administration, cooking and medical appointments participation.

Individual Services:

  • Performs all direct care duties, includes lifting up to 75 pounds and safely uses transfer equipment for individuals living in the home.
  • Completes household operations, including but not limited to: cooking, cleaning, laundry, ordering groceries and supplies as necessary. Plans menus, grocery shops, and prepares meals.
  • Develops, trains, and implements programs, goals, and outcomes in conjunction with Program Manager.
  • Advocates for the needs of the individuals residing within the home.
  • Organizes, supervises, and participates in activities and community integration opportunities. Maintains safe driving record, with the ability to drive company vehicles.
  • Assures protection of individuals' finances and resources.
  • Identifies and responds to individual needs in emotional and social areas; however, intervention in these areas does not fall within the meaning of psychotherapy.
  • Performs tasks which fall within Category II of infection control; which may include exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue.

Safety:

  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures, fosters awareness and actions that promote a safe living and working environment.
  • Follows established lifting and transfer guidelines. Trains others in proper lifting techniques and body mechanics.

Regulation Compliance:

  • Understands, implements, and complies with all policies, procedures, and philosophy of PRI; as well as all rules and regulations of licensing agencies. Has working knowledge of rules and regulations.
  • Completes all required documentation.

Development of Position:

  • Attends all mandatory in-services and meets annual training requirements.
  • Takes on extra projects, participates on at least one committee, and other committees as necessary.

Customer/Human Relations:

  • Communicates effectively with individuals, staff, supervisors, families, interdisciplinary team members, and other customers verbally and in writing.
  • Displays cooperative, supportive and positive conduct and presents self as an effective role model in representing The Phoenix Residence.

The House Supervisor will assume additional responsibilities as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred, or high school diploma and three years of experience working in health and human services preferred experience with persons with developmental and physical disabilities.
  • Supervisory and management experience preferred not required.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Trained Medication Passer certified within first sixty (60) days of employment.
  • Holds valid driver's license and maintains a safe driving record in order to drive company vehicles. Trained to drive Phoenix owned vehicles within first sixty (60) days of employment.
  • Ability to provide 24-hour coverage directly and indirectly.
  • Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and decision making skills.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 75 pounds, which includes lifting objects and lifting and transferring individuals. Ability to sit, stands, stoop, bend, reach, and push/pull wheelchairs.
  • Ability to see and hear in order to make assessments.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies in accordance with procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to be employed full-time.
