CANDIDATE PROFILE
Latino Network seeks a mission-driven professional with bi-cultural proficiency with a background in Emergency Management and Preparedness experience, workplace safety best practices, and agency internal and external emergency response experience to support a full range of agency wide operations activities for our growing organization.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
This role is responsible for working collaboratively with the internal agency Operations and Health and Wellness departments to support a safe, functional, and effective work environment for Latino Network staff working to support multiple site locations across the Portland metro area. This position is responsible for coordinating and supporting key internal operational functions, including but not limited to the following responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Agency Safety Coordination:
Coordinate and help prepare the organization for emergencies and disasters (e.g. fires, floods, public health emergencies, immigration raids) and respond to those situations as they arise.
Works closely with our organization's program staff, including the Health & Wellness Department to plan, develop and roll out safety and emergency preparedness trainings for staff implementation to the community.
Responsible for coordinating and hosting staff Safety Committee meetings, assisting and developing prevention and safety efforts.
Work with Leadership, Health and Wellness Department, and Facilities Manager role with coordinating agency wide communication on inclement weather issues, natural disasters, and other types of emergency situations.
Coordinate with Health and Wellness Department for how to best deploy internal CHWs to support staff and the community during and after an emergency.
Reviews and updates the agencys emergency plans and protocols.
Lead in researching and identifying safety related trainings or certifications for the organization to attend based on need.
Provide new-employee safety orientations, and collaborate with the development of materials for these presentations with IT, HR, and Safety Committee and or consultant as appropriate.
External Coordination:
Lead coordination of response to emergencies and disasters on behalf of the agency.
Create and maintain up to date resource lists for emergencies and disasters.
Lead on finding opportunities and resources available to the agency for safety, emergency preparedness, resiliency hub efforts, etc.
Be point of contact with governmental agencies i.e. OSHA, and external safety consultants for coordination of inspections and evaluations of workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
Represent Latino Network at designated emergency preparedness training, meetings, and forums.
Coordinates and communicates inspection and evaluation findings to agency leadership and staff safety committee as appropriate, not limited to Fire Marshall safety inspections, City or County inspections, and ADA walkthroughs at current sites.
Work with Safety consultants on investigations of accidents to identify causes, issues and work with the Safety Committee and/or Operations leadership to determine recommendations and action items to help prevent future occurrences/accidents.
Other:
Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of collaboration and cooperation.
Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
Respectfully takes direction from supervisor.
Works on special projects to support the agency Ops team and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Background in Safety, and emergency preparedness for workplace environment experience needed.
Background on general safety protocols, measures and systems in an office setting and/or nonprofit environment.
Experience and background with emergency response coordination/management is a plus.
Experience in developing and conducting or coordinating training/ orientations preferred.
Combination of education and training in relation to past experience within the above areas, from inside and outside of the United States are considered equally. Transferable skills and lived experience will be considered.
High level of accountability.
Strong initiative and follow through.
Effective interpersonal and written and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work independently while meeting key organizational deadlines.
Ability to be flexible and adaptive to successfully achieve the functions of the position as described in the job responsibilities.
Ability to maintain discretion with regards to confidential matters and maintain confidential records.
The regular work schedule for this position is Monday- Friday, 9am-5pm and availability to work occasional weekends and evenings if needed.
Reliable transportation required. Automobile, driver's license, and automobile liability insurance preferred; must be eligible to be an insured driver under Latino Network's Commercial Auto Liability (or become eligible within three months of date of hire).
Proficient computer skills: familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, working knowledge of macOS, and Windows OS.
Familiarity with Google Workspace Admin and Paylocity HRIS systems are a plus.
Experience working with a non-profit organization is a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use stairways to climb to multiple floors within an office building, and talk or hear. This position is an onsite role, with a designated work station at an office location and will travel to multiple worksite locations. The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to type or dial, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to perform minimal heavy lifting and walking during peak events and prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Latino Network is a highly engaged work environment with satellite operations and positions performing work both onsite and remotely. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
