The Panhandle Pup - Groomer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Dog Groomer to join our team and provide exceptional grooming services for our furry clients. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals, excellent grooming skills, and the ability to create a positive and comfortable experience for both dogs and their owners. The Dog Groomer will be responsible for ensuring the well-being and appearance of dogs through bathing, grooming, and styling according to breed standards or owner preferences.

Responsibilities

• Grooming Services: Perform bathing, brushing, haircuts, and other grooming services for dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments.
• Nail Trimming: Safely and effectively trim dogs' nails, ensuring they are at a comfortable and healthy length.
• Ear Cleaning: Clean and inspect dogs' ears to maintain cleanliness and prevent infections.
• Teeth Cleaning: Provide basic teeth cleaning services to promote good oral hygiene.
• Customer Interaction: Consult with pet owners to understand their preferences and discuss grooming options. Provide recommendations based on breed standards and the dog's individual needs.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of each dog's grooming history, including services provided, any health concerns, and special instructions from owners.
• Handling and Safety: Safely handle dogs during grooming procedures, ensuring their well-being and comfort. Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents or injuries.
• Equipment Maintenance: Regularly clean and maintain grooming tools and equipment to ensure they are in proper working order.
• Stay Informed: Stay current on industry trends, grooming techniques, and breed-specific grooming requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience as a Dog Groomer, with a portfolio showcasing a variety of grooming styles.
• Certification: Formal training or certification in dog grooming is preferred.
• Animal Handling Skills: Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments with patience and care.
• Communication Skills: Strong communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with pet owners and understand their grooming preferences.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in grooming to achieve high-quality results.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy dogs when necessary.

Additional Information

• This is a part-time position with no guarantee of hours. Your schedule is dependent on the dogs booked for the week.
• Employee is responsible for opening and closing duties of the trailer.
• Employees are responsible for providing and maintaining their own shears, clippers and blades, brushes and combs. The Panhandle Pup is not responsible for damages to these supplies.
• The Panhandle Pup will provide bathing and coat finishing products (shampoo, conditioner, cologne, etc.), dog accessories (bow tie/bandana), and clean towels.
• Employees are responsible for the replacement or repair of any broken equipment resulting from negligence or misuse during the course of their duties. This will be taken out of their paycheck.
• The Panhandle Pup will be responsible for routine maintenance of supplied grooming equipment (tub, blow dryer, grooming table, water heater, water tanks, AC and heating units). It is the responsibility of the employee to notify management immediately of any issues with this equipment.
• In the event that a groom can’t be completed due to a dog’s behavior, the customer will be charged based on the amount of work completed or half the quoted price of the groom, whichever is more. The employee will still receive their 30% commission for whatever is charged to the customer.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 48 per week
