The Pain Center is Hiring a Medical Scribe Near Boise, ID

Medical Scribes are individuals trained in medical documentation who assist a provider throughout their shift. The primary goal is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician. It will be the responsibility of the Medical Scribe to annotate any dictated or written information for the treatment of patients following all local, state and federal guidelines for documentation into the electronic health record system. The Medical Scribe will be responsible for clearly recording each patient's symptoms, history, physical exam and documenting the diagnosis.

In this position you will follow the doctor to the clinic she is working in for that day. Two of her offices are located in Boise, and one is located in Caldwell. Ability to commute to all 3 offices is required. You will work alongside another scribe in assisting the doctor see patients and provide the best patient care possible during visits or in responding to any questions or concerns when they call in to the office.

There will be times that you will perform strictly medical assistant duties if the doctor is not in office for the day, or if your assistance is needed as a medical assistant.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares and assembles medical record documentation/charts for physician(s).
  • Enters the patient room with the physician during patient visit to capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing electronic medical record applications.
  • Ensures medical record compliance by self-documentation attestation.
  • Updates patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information in the patient
  • Prepares and sends all documentation to physician for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific procedures.
  • Monitors the duration of basic lab results and screening procedures.
  • Complies with medical facility policies, including those relating to HIPAA.
  • Performs other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow as assigned.

A Scribe can be trained to perform vitals, room patients, handle Patient Portal tasks for your assigned provider, chart abstraction, and assisting in other departments.

Knowledge, Skills, AND Abilities

  • Recognition of physical exam process and ability to record exam details quickly and accurately.
  • Must be able to listen to complex medical information and summarize in a clear, complete and concise fashion.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows environment and ability to quickly learn new applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.
  • Typing 60 WPM or greater.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year experience in healthcare field or minimum 2 year of college education REQUIRED
  • Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology coursework/degree.
  • Experience working in an outpatient clinic or doctor’s office.
  • Medical experience REQUIRED

As a Medical Assistant/Scribe for The Pain Center you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients and document basic medical history
  • Organize and schedule appointments
  • Update and file medical records
  • Arrange outgoing referrals and laboratory services
  • Check with patients and type up patients' charts
  • Assist during medical examinations
  • Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
  • Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments

Skills

  • Proven working experience as a medical assistant or medical secretary
  • Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Social perceptiveness and service oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software
  • Degree/training in medical assistance (REQUIRED)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
