The Oregon Clinic, P.C. is Hiring a Refund Specialist (NE Portland) Near Portland, OR

The Oregon Clinic is seeking an experienced, full-time Refund Specialist to join our billing office located in NE Portland, near the Lloyd Center area. Remote work may be an option after training is complete and competency has been demonstrated. Must live in Oregon or SW Washington and be able to come to the office as needed. This position will perform a variety of tasks researching insurance refund requests, overpayments, credit balances and ensuring money is correctly applied and overpayments are refunded to the appropriate party. In addition, the Refund Specialist may provide coverage for Business Office Reception and perform other duties within the data entry department. The ideal candidate will have at least 1-year prior experience refunding insurances, detail oriented, a quick learner, be excellent at multitasking, and able to prioritize and communicate effectively. They will need to be flexible as they will be working in Athena and EPIC.

Workdays will be Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

Starting pay range, based on experience: $19.89 - $26.91 per hour.

Medical, Vision, and Rx Insurance is 100% paid for by The Oregon Clinic for full-time employees.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years office experience with at least 1 year of experience refunding insurances.
  • Must have previous experience in medical billing!
  • Knowledge of medical insurance billing and cash handling, UB92's and 1500's and State and Federal medical insurance processing rules.
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications; EPIC and Athena a plus!
  • Ability to comprehend several forms of Explanation of Benefits or Summary Notifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and follow established policies and procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing, time management, customer service, and verbal & written communication skills.
