Are you outgoing, supportive, and enjoy helping people? We have a unique opportunity to work as a full time Caregiver at our Adult Day Center located on the East Side of Madison. Our Caregivers work as a team to assist with personal care, supervision and activities for Day Center participants ages 18 . We provide an inclusive, fun, unique, caring, and family-like environment for our participants to enjoy while their loved ones are at work during the day.

Starting pay rate: $16.50

We offer the following:

Principle Accountabilities

Client Services

  • Assist the Adult Day Center participants with personal cares and activities of daily living as outlined in individualized care plan.
  • Provide daily assistance with the implementation of proper use of body mechanics with participant's mobility, transfer, and safety needs.
  • Monitor and report changes in participant's condition and behavior to appropriate staff and formal supports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure a person-centered approach by considering each participant's abilities, preferences, and needs.
  • Establish a supportive relationship with each participant and their supports.
  • Participate in team meetings addressing participant's progress with individualized goals and outcomes.
  • Participate in on-going training and professional development as outlined in Department of Health Services annual continuing education standards and Catholic Charities Adult Day Center program manual.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner according to all Catholic Charities Adult Day Center standards.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • CNA license is preferred, but not required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year experience working with adults who have physical and/or cognitive disabilities, mental health diagnosis, or dementia/Alzheimer's.

Skills:

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds and tolerate medium to high physical effort including walking, standing, lifting, stooping, squatting, bending, reaching, pushing and /or pulling.
  • Ability to follow directions, organize and prioritize work assignments.
  • Ability to collaborate and problem solve with co-workers to ensure quality care.
  • Ability to understand and follow individual participant care plans.
  • Ability to respectfully approach and provide positive redirection for individuals who have various diagnoses.
