Description
The Oliver Hotel in Oxford, Mississippi is searching for a Line Cook to join our distinguished culinary staff. Experience is not necessary, we will gladly train you. There is ample opportunity to learn and train in professional culinary standards. You will also adhere to health and safety regulations, and help maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen. Responsibilities
•Consistently providing quality food preparation and service
•Providing speed, accuracy, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment
•Cleaning and maintaining kitchen, prep and dish areas, and equipment
•Understanding and proper use of recipes and kitchen equipment
•Flexibility in executing varying events and seasonal menus
•Maintaining Health Department cleanliness and safety standards
•Adhere to established storage and waste control standards for meats, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products to ensure quality food is served
•Cook food orders at stations by following established recipes and presentation standards for grilling, broiling, and sauting menu items
•Keep all workstations, counters, cooking equipment, and refrigerators clean and sanitary according to health and safety rules
•Set up cooking stations and fill them with all of the essential preparation items for a shift
•Demonstrate a professional and pleasant demeanor when interacting with visitors, vendors, and associates
•Assist other staff in a healthy, teamwork-focused environment
Qualifications
•Experience of cooking for at least 3 years is preferred, but not required
•Previous fine-dining preparation experience is a plus
•Strong communication skills with a positive and respectful attitude are required
•Ability to operate kitchen equipment effectively is necessary
•Candidates should be hardworking, detail-oriented, and possess a strong work ethic
•High school diploma or equivalent GED certification is required
•Prior experience in food service is preferred
•Must adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines for kitchen equipment and food storage
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers are essential
