With an average of 18 students per class and a classical, time-tested curriculum, Oaks Academy instructional assistants are able to know and love the students entrusted to their care. They are able to focus on facilitating holistic, authentic learning in a collaborative, professional community.

The Library Instructional Assistant works two days/week, partnering with the Librarian, supporting the program (assists in preparation of materials, plans schedules, maintains files and records, subs for Librarian), interacting with the children, working one-on-one with those needing specialized attention, and assisting with care of students in a collegial environment where relationships come first.

The Library Instructional Assistant -

Understands and promotes the mission, standards, and policies of the school

Models habits that help students grow in wisdom, compassion, and Christ-like maturity

Works in partnership with supervising Librarian to - 

• Support library program by assisting with implementation of curriculum
• Plan specific schedules and responsibilities
• Interact with children in age-appropriate ways suitable to child growth and development (reading, directing book selections), facilitating student engagement with ideas and books
• Assist in physical management of library materials (administrative tasks)
• Assist with preparation of materials, maintaining files, as request

Carries out librarian duties when Librarian is absent 

Communicates all relevant concerns about students to the Librarian or classroom teacher

Participates in meaningful, ongoing professional learning

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and classroom experience preferred; devout Christian who is a member of, associated with, or seeking to be associated with, a Christ-centered community of faith or a church
