The Nowak Group is Hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Transformer Manufacturer (Eastern US) Near St Louis, MO

Position Summary:

Manages and oversees the Manufacturing Engineering function for oil-filled and air-cooled/dry transformers, and rectifier/power-supply systems. This includes coil winding, lamination, final assembly, and tanking. 

Responsibilities:

Be seen as the main floor contact for mechanical & electrical engineering clarifications and changes.
• For changes that do not affect form/fit/function or the specification, correct via ECN. Otherwise, engage with applicable Engineer to address.
• For metal fabrication, review usage procedures. tooling, process improvements, and sourcing.
• Work with engineering on special design considerations.
• Review designs with Engineering before they are released to the floor to ensure ease of manufacture and identify problems and offer suggestions for design improvements (product review kick-off meetings).
• Document and deliver feedback to Engineering and other departments for corrections and/or areas of improvement.
• Drive new manufacturing and engineering rules.
• In conjunction with EH&S, provide forklift certification and training, overhead crane certification & training. and other product/process training as appropriate.
• Be an active participant in product review and kick-off meetings, ensure smooth implementation of new products.
• Be a change-agent with functional leaders to lower total overall costs.
• Reads prints to build complex mechanical assemblies to lead and direct teams.
• As needed, run informal and formal team meetings to assure daily assignments and goals are on track.
• Train employees for best practices using work procedures. Create work procedures/instructions if one doesn’t already exist or edit/revise existing ones.
• Review manufacturing assembly status at applicable process steps, verify compliance to print/drawing.
• Gives feedback for continuous improvement on Engineering Change Requests (ECR), Corrective Action Requests, Manufacturing Instructions, and rules book.
• Makes recommendations & suggestions regarding materials, specifications, techniques, practices, issues, or anything quality related.
• Attends planning and production meetings.

Requirements

 
• Requires at least 10 years’ experience in large, industrial manufacturing industry. Applicants with transformer manufacturing experience will be given priority.
Must be able to speak English fluently.
• Spanish speaking/fluency is a plus.
US based candidates only.
