The New York Foundling is Hiring a Job Coach- (Rockland | Per-Diem) Near Nanuet, NY

a. Is responsible for the support and overall supervision of the participants enrolled in Employment Services Programs.

b. Truly encompasses the meaning of Person Centered Planning by keeping in mind each person's unique strengths, cultural, ethnic, religious and age differences. If participants are unable to advocate for themselves the job coach will advocate on the person's behalf.

c. Finds and develops job and volunteer placements by ensuring each place identified for work or volunteer is, integrated, competitive, safe and appropriate for their abilities.

Responsibilities

Salary Range: $17.33 - $18.13/hr

Under the direct supervision of the Employment Services Coordinator the Job Coach will be responsible for the following.

  • Services
  • Is responsible for the support and overall supervision of the participants enrolled in Employment Services Programs.
  • Truly encompasses the meaning of Person Centered Planning by keeping in mind each person’s unique strengths, cultural, ethnic, religious and age differences. If participants are unable to advocate for themselves the job coach will advocate on the person’s behalf. 
  • Finds and develops job and volunteer placements by ensuring each place identified for work or volunteer is, integrated, competitive, safe and appropriate for their abilities.
  • Works side by side with site managers/owners to ensure the person is working/volunteering in a truly integrated setting that is fair and free from neglect or abuse.
  • Accompanies participants to work/volunteer sites to provide on the job training to ensure they are learning the skills needed to fulfill their job duties. 
  • Ensures participants arrive to work or volunteer sites on time and prepared for the day.
  • Interprets the Agency policies and program to the participants and the community.
  • Ensures that a participant is calm and productive while at work by assisting them with conflicts that may arise while they are working or volunteering.
  • Is aware of the resources of the community and, in cooperation with other staff, uses them to meet the needs and interests of the participants, e.g., finding job placement, finding volunteering opportunities, doing job development etc.
  • Is alert to the expressions of attitudes, feelings and relationships of each participant. Develops an awareness of the individual participant’s needs, not only through the observation and interaction when receiving work services, also through a study of the participant’s case history and by appropriate consultation with other members of the staff and other disciplines.
  • S/he keeps a record of pertinent observations and impressions about the group and the individual’s behavior.
  • Attempts to form a meaningful relationship with each participant in the group. S/he helps each participant make the most of their work experience. 
  • Works from the regional hub and is required to travel to all work/volunteer sites as necessary.
  • The lead job coach works directly with an individual with a disability at the workplace/volunteer site to help him/her learn the specific requirements of the job. This includes learning work-related activities and requirements such as time and attendance rules; and learning appropriate work-related (including social) goals when dealing with supervisors and co-workers
  • Travel train the client to their volunteer/work site if needed.
  • Trainings and Regulations:
  • Fosters and maintains the standards set forth in the NYF Policies and Regulations and the applicable OPWDD and federal regulations.
  • Attends all NY Foundling and OPWDD trainings needed for the position and others that will assist with completing job requirements.
  • Trains individuals to perform their job duties to ensure excellent service delivery.
  • Plans and supervises the work of the individuals, scheduling them within the guidelines of Personnel while, at the same time, assuring that necessary services are provided.
  • Keeps his/her supervisor informed of policies, plans, programs, objectives, progress, deficiencies, irregularities or other significant factors affecting assigned responsibilities.
  • Meets with and reports regularly to the Employment Services Coordinator concerning the progress of the participants and operation of the program.
  • Documentation
  • Complete daily documentation sheet daily with notes on how they completed their work on that day associated with their goals.
  • Complete monthly summary with accurate dates of services to be handed in to the Employment Services Coordinator on the last day of the month that the individual is supported for billing purposes.
  • Have all documents signed and dated.
  • Complete incident reports by end of shift with all sections pertaining to the job coach completed, signed and dated.
  • Keep accurate record of time and attendance for the participants on each day.
  • Complete participants stipend forms to be submitted at the end of the pay period bi-weekly.
  • Understands that all daily documentation must be in before end of shift.
  • Reporting Relationships
  • Reports directly to Employment Services Coordinator for supervision. Whenever serious staff or administrative problems arise, they should be directed toward the Employment Services Coordinator.
  • Requirement 

    - Education, experience and special needs required: HS diploma/GED, medication certification preferred or training will be provided, six (6) months experience with I/DD population preferred.Valid Driver’s License for at least 6 months or more, acceptable by agency standard required Hours Varies.
