The New York Academy of Medicine is Hiring a Senior Environmental Services Specialist Near New York, NY

Basic Responsibilities

  • Perform light carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and other assistant handyman tasks as required
  • Responsible for the cleanliness, repair, and trash and recycling removal of all items on specified floors of the building
  • Cleaning will consist of all offices, common areas, restrooms, and event spaces
  • Maintain the general cleanliness of all buildings and grounds, including front of building and doors
  • Inspection of any light fixtures that are out and replace any bulbs, etc.
  • Coordinating set-up and clean-up for all meetings and special events, including lifting tables and placing chairs.
  • Assist with delivery of furniture and supplies to the building.
  • Accommodate staff requests for maintenance services as instructed by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience

  • Working knowledge of policies and procedures relevant to the job function
  • A familiarization with local, state, and federal regulations governing buildings in NYC 
  • 3-5 years of maintenance staff/mechanic experience required
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required 
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions

The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Job’s specific vision abilities include distance, color, peripheral, and the ability to adjust and focus.
