WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Green Ribbon Initiative Partnership Specialist will help continue to build a local conservation movement in the eight county Oak Openings Region of northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. The Partnership Specialist coordinates efforts of the Green Ribbon Initiative (GRI), serves as a liaison between GRI partner organizations, and implements programs that inform, empower and mobilize key constituents to protect and restore Oak Openings natural communities.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU

The GRI Partnership Specialist is an integral part of TNC’s Oak Openings Program team, and the GRI team of partners, working to revitalize human and natural communities in the Oak Openings Region. The Partnership Specialist will establish and maintain cooperative relationships with NGOs, private landowners, schools, universities, state and local agencies, and corporations in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. They will work with TNC, and GRI partners, to advance equitable community engagement and conservation initiatives. They will develop and implement trainings, community outreach, and educational strategies that effectively communicate GRI and TNC conservation messages. They are responsible for coordinating meetings, workshops, and events, developing educational programs, and producing publications on behalf of the GRI partnership. They will serve as a spokesperson for the partnership and use a variety of media to promote participation in land protection and management. They will ensure that partners are engaged and informed through regular communication and synthesis of information in print, social media, quarterly newsletters, and the GRI website. They will oversee the GRI private landowner registry and the Adopt-a-Natural-Area Program. They will assist land management staff in establishing management agreements, training partners, and establishing restoration contracts, and will lead and/or participate in restoration activities such as invasive species control. They will coordinate and implement volunteer and corporate engagement programs on TNC and GRI partner properties.

This position is contingent upon funding, from grants and GRI partner agencies, which is currently secured through June 2025. The GRI Partnership Specialist will collaborate with program staff and partners to secure additional funding for this position and related TNC strategies.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and 2 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience coordinating projects with a team approach.
  • Experience in public speaking and education and writing and/or editing publications and related materials.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and/or multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience.
  • Ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with those outside the organization.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with land stewardship and habitat restoration techniques.
  • Knowledge of the ecology of the Oak Openings Region.
  • Familiarity with managing grants, contracts, and/or budgets.
  • Experience with website management and design.

SALARY INFORMATION

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $56,240 - $59,755 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
