The National Conference Center is Hiring a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC Near Leesburg, VA

The National Conference Center is one of the largest and most comprehensive conference centers and learning and development campuses in the nation with 917 guestrooms and 270,000 square feet of conference and event space.

Located in Leesburg, Virginia along the Potomac River near Washington DC, 20 minutes from Dulles Airport, The National delivers the country’s foremost learning and meeting experience. POSITION SUMMARY: The National is seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic for the evening shift who will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, system, and equipment using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments. Thew will be responsible to examine and diagnose trouble, disassemble machines, and repair or replace broken parts, and order replacement parts. All work is performed in accordance with established safety procedures. 

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

• Diagnose and perform preventive maintenance and repairs to physical structures on the campus: ceilings, walls, doors, windows, and floors.

• Performs preventive maintenance to the following: HVAC; chillers, boilers, cooling towers and air handlers. Mechanical; duct work and ventilation distribution systems. Electrical; emergency generators, 480-volt 3 phase distribution systems,120-volt systems, components, lighting, and low voltage control systems. Plumbing; piping, pumps, water softeners and water treatment. Controls; analog, digital, pneumatic, and electrical.

• Operates the Energy Management System to monitor and/or change set points and change operation schedules.

• Performs daily building and equipment checks and recording status of equipment including: chillers, boilers, air handlers and water treatment equipment.

• Completes work order documentation, frequency requirements and other related duties as assigned.

• Inspects completed repairs.

• Requisitions of new parts and equipment. 

• Maintains a safe work environment.

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Read, interpret, and follow architectural and general engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications as well as manufacturers installation and maintenance documentation.

• Maintain a consistent high level of productivity to accomplish multiple tasks in an expedient manner.

• Work independently with minimal supervision.

• Deal with employees, management and client’s guests and employees with tact and courtesy.

• Stand and walk for long periods of time.

• Use hands and fingers skillfully and easily.

• Speak and write clearly.

• Carry out specific oral or written instructions, frequently following a simple routine.

• Lift and carry things like tools and parts.

• Make quick judgment calls.

• Maintain a professional demeanor.

• Work within precise limits, tolerances, and standards.

• Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of a complex problem.

• Use hand and power tools as well as lift equipment and basic electrical and mechanical test equipment.

• Respond to and refer service requests.

• Report service deficiencies.

• Apply mastery of skills, duties and tasks reflecting substantial variety and complexity.

• Accomplish other duties/work as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: H.S. diploma or G.E.D. and formal HVAC trades training and certification, i.e. Universal CFC Certification, HVAC Apprenticeship/Journeyman/Masters.

Experience: 3 or more years of building operations and maintenance
