Position Overview:
The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking an Associate Director of Domestic Policy. The Associate Director of Domestic Policy supports the Domestic Policy team’s policy and advocacy work, including by leading on select policy issues relevant to the team, such as corporate finance, regulatory, health care, technology and immigration policy.
The Associate Director of Domestic Policy is responsible for tracking legislative and regulatory proposals, participating in advocacy strategies and conducting policy research on priority issues for the Domestic Policy team. The position is also responsible working with the VP of Domestic Policy to lead a portion of the association’s regulatory policy portfolio, including on issues such as Right to Repair, Food & Beverage, Postal and Made in USA. The position also will fulfill certain administrative tasks, as assigned.
The position, in collaboration with the VP of Domestic Policy and the broader Domestic Policy team, will work closely with key internal stakeholders, including government relations (to ensure consistency and effectiveness in NAM representation before policymakers), membership (to identify issues and communicate updates on priority items), public affairs and marketing (to inform NAM advocacy campaigns, demonstrate value to our membership on assigned issues and identify opportunities to enhance NAM’s public-facing work), and legal (to analyze statutory and procedural impacts of legislative and regulatory proposals).
The successful candidate has a track record of working collaboratively with team members to analyze and communicate complex policy issues clearly and succinctly to a variety of audiences.
Key responsibilities include tracking legislative and regulatory developments (bill introductions, congressional hearings, agency rule proposals, etc.); working with other policy experts and internal groups to develop advocacy strategies; serving as a voice for manufacturers before relevant policymakers on Capitol Hill and in the Administration; working closely with key leaders at the NAM's 14,000 member companies to identify policy priorities; communicating with internal and external stakeholders about the NAM's policy work; and ensuring that the NAM is responsive to the needs of manufacturers on the assigned policy issues.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct reports.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3-5 years of related Capitol Hill, Executive Branch and/or Association policy development experience.
Exceptional understanding of legislative and regulatory processes.
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
Proven ability to work effectively in a fast paced, quality and goal-driven environment.
