The Museum of Flight is Hiring a Store Sales Associate I Near Seattle, WA

Summary

The Store Sales Associates provide the highest level of customer service to guests of The Museum of Flight. This position performs all activities associated with the Museum store floor operation which includes cashiering, stocking merchandise, and ensuring store cleanliness. As a front-line staff member, the Store Sales Associate welcomes guests to the Museum experience, assists customers with purchases, and provides the public with a positive impression. The Store Sales Associate works in the main store, as well as other exit stores, event stores, and pop-up stores on the Museum campus, as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Warm, friendly, and informative customer service while assisting visitors in person and on the phone.
  2. Ring in sales accurately, heavy cash handling and credit card transactions, and balancing register at the end of the day.
  3. Be able to help customers in the following areas: Store inventory system and merchandise, the museum collection, daily museum events, museum membership levels, education programs, facility rental opportunities, and customer involvement by becoming a museum member, volunteer/docent or contributor.
  4. Keep the work area clean, orderly, stocked, and safe. Clean glass doors, windows, shelves, and merchandise, being aware of safety hazards and guidelines, stock inventory.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned by the Retail Operations Manager or Leads.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 6 months of cashiering and/or customer service required, 1 year preferred.

Knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience using computers and handling cash.

Skills

  • Displays courteous and friendly demeanor; demonstrated experience directing and assisting guests.
  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.

Abilities

  • Proven superior attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a diverse population.

  • This is a flexible position and requires being available various days throughout the work week, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Onsite attendance is essential to perform the duties of this position.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and stand on one’s feet for long periods of time.
  • Requires repetitive wrist movements resulting from cashiering Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, twist, carry, reach, overhead reach, climb, push, pull, walk, stand, squat, and focus in a normal sales and admissions environment.

Benefits

The Museum of Flight offers part-time employees benefits which include 2 weeks of accrued sick leave (80 hours) per year for first 4 years, 10 paid working holidays, 403(b) retirement plan and a 25% discount at the Museum Store. 

Compensation

The hourly range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour depending on experience. Typically, a Store Sales Associate will start at $20.00 per hour.
