The Mural Building is Hiring a Barista/Host Near Garland, TX

About the Role:
We are currently seeking a part-time barista who is: able to work various shifts, a team player, responsible, proactive, loves coffee, and is committed to delivering engaging customer service, commitment to recipes, and excellence in work. The ideal candidate will be friendly, energetic, passionate about serving people with excellence, a coffee lover, a team-player, teachable, and extremely reliable and punctual.

This position also requires the ability to keep and maintain a clean and sanitary work environment. Respond to customer concerns and requests and ensure The Mural Building property and personnel are secure.

Responsibilities:

· Take customer orders; describe menu items and suggest products to customers.

· Provide information about products and looks for "up-sell" opportunities.

· Prepare all drinks and food items following the outlet and company standards.

· Ensure equipment is clean and in working order. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the maintenance department.

· Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, and equipment.

· Clean tables, floors, and other service areas.

· Ensure that coffee supplies are always stocked (i.e., cup sleeves, straws, stirs, napkins, sugar, creamer, etc.)

· Operate a cash register/ POS system and receive payment from customers in cash or credit card, accurately count and provide change to customers as required, and follows all company’s customer service and cash handling policies and procedures.

· Follow company’s operational policies and procedures, including those for safety and security, to ensure the safety of all staff during each shift.

· Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team.

· Responsible for the proper handling of all food and equipment.

· All other duties assigned by managers and supervisors.

Supportive Functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:

  • Assist with any guest inquiry.
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by direct and indirect Supervisors.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to four (4) hours in length.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
  • Must be able to receive large shipment orders such as beans, milk, other supplies.
  • Hearing, smelling, tasting, and visual ability to observe and distinguish product quality and detect signs of emergency situations.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with other staff, guests, and supervisors.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally.
  • Ability to work primarily with fingers to pick, pinch, type and carry out substantial movements (motions) of the wrists and hands as well.

Education:

High school or equivalent education required.

Experience:

  • One to three years food service experience preferred.
  • One-year customer service experience preferred.

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Food Handlers certification required, if not you can get it in training once hired.

Grooming:

All Staff Members must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
