The Custodial Supervisor- Daily Maintenance position is responsible for the cleaning of assigned areas and supervising the employees in those areas. This position is focused on the day-to-day, routine cleaning of areas across campus.

Essential Functions

• Supervises the cleaning of assigned areas.
• Inspects buildings on a consistent basis to ensure fulfillment of cleaning standards. Manages custodial inspection software, assigning and performing inspections, and compiling regular progress reports.
• Works directly with student supervisors, supervising and guiding them in their role.
• Works with departments across campus to ensure the best service possible, good customer satisfaction, and that cleanliness is up to standard.
• Provides on-site guidance to custodial staff.
• Implements and maintains housekeeping standards consistent with OSHA regulations to successfully meet inspection criteria.
• Promotes safety rules and use of appropriate safety equipment.
• Plans, schedules, and assigns work as required.
• Interviews, hires, and trains personnel, orienting them into the campus custodial program.
• Evaluates employee performance.
• Administers and approves employee timecards.
• Manages custodial services email and customer feedback.
• Performs custodian cleaning duties as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Cleaning experience and knowledge of custodial procedures and machine operation.
• Leadership/Supervisory experience.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Able to work in the US legally without sponsorship.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience cleaning at MBI.
• Experience using custodial equipment.
• Experience with scheduling systems.
• Advance computer skills.

This is a full time position Monday-Friday. Though there is an expectation of some flexibility in time of day worked to cover supervision between 6am-5pm, the schedule is typically 7:00am – 3:30pm.

The employee is expected to be available to work overtime for some yearly events. Minimal local travel is expected for this position.

This job operates in different environments. Part of the job functions in an office setting, using standard office equipment such as a phone, computer, and photocopier/printer. While working in the office, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, sit for long periods of time, and use keyboard and mouse.

The other part of the job occurs throughout the campus. The employee cleans in bathrooms, offices, classrooms, hallways, stairwells, and other spaces. The specific areas of work are assigned by the custodial supervisor. While performing custodial duties, the employee uses basic custodial equipment, such as mops, buckets, spray bottles, paper wipers, sponges, and toilet bowl brushes. This role also operates machines, such as carpet extractors, floor machines, wet vacs, and other specialized cleaning equipment.

The employee is required to walk the majority of the workday, including stairs. Tasks also necessitate bending, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and climbing (i.e., ladders). The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, and push or pull gondolas, carts, and equipment ranging from light to heavy weight.
