The Moody Bible Institute is Hiring an Assistant Director of Student Financial Services Near Chicago, IL

Under the Director of Student Financial Services (SFS), the Assistant Director of Student Financial Services is to assist the constituents to provide a high level of customer service, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Financial Services while ensuring accurate and timely processing in a way that meets federal guidelines.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

  • Assist with preparing, monitoring and implementing financial aid related budgets in accordance with federal, state, and university guidelines.
  • Counsels and advises students and families regarding all facets of the financial aid process, including financial aid eligibility for federal and institutional financial aid and the associated application processes.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of need analysis and student financial aid eligibility.
  • Review and complete processed federal student aid verification files.
  • Manage accurate R2T4 calculations and ensure adequate reviews are in place.
  • Review and complete processed Return of Title IV Funds files.
  • Serve as an escalated representative for resolving students concerns and/or complaints
  • Review random sampling of counselor review reports from the financial aid counselor for accuracy.
  • Assists with developing, implementing, executing, student aid procedures and recommends changes based on workflow and productivity concerns.
  • Supervisor financial aid counselors, approving timecards, vacation time, onboard, and train new financial aid counselors.
  • Make determination on scholarship and SAP appeals.
  • Assists in the processing of federal documents for C code resolutions, SAP Appeals and scholarship appeals.
  • Serve as the institution’s Tuition Assistance Representative, Primary Veterans Certifying Official, and Vocational Rehabilitation Representative.
  • Process book orders for VA students for specific VA chapters.
  • Approver of payment plan adjustments and revisions.
  • Attends ongoing training to maintain relevant knowledge of all federal regulatory requirements affections constituents.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Three years of experience in the administration of financial aid, preferably in a private college setting
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software (especially Excel) and enterprise systems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to a student-centered, collaborative philosophy.
  • Ability to interpret, apply and explain policies, procedures and regulations regarding financial programs.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
  • Able to work in the US legally without sponsorship.

Preferred Requirements

  • Five years of experience in Financial Aid
  • Some supervisory experience
  • PeopleSoft Campus Solutions experience

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filling cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This is a full-time position that primarily operates from our Chicago campus. The hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Travel is expected in order to attend trainings once or twice a year.
