Overview

Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute is currently seeking a Electrical Maintenance Technician III to join the Institute’s Facilities Team.

Under direct supervision, the Electrical Maintenance Technician III will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing central plant equipment. This includes electricial, centrifugal chillers, air compressors vacuum pumps and associated support equipment. The individual will also assist with plumbing and other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.

Will be required to respond in a timely fashion to a variety of alarms to include equipment monitoring systems, HVAC alarms, IT system alarms, and all other related types of notifications.

Work Schedule is Tuesday - Saturday from 6:30 am - 3:00 pm.

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of directly-related maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. Prior documented experience working with supply and exhaust fans, pumps, evaporative coolers, air filtration systems, electrical and blueprints experience is strongly preferred. A JE-98 License is required.

Must have demonstrated skills in general maintenance and be able to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of electrical maintenance problems. This position requires the ability to complete associated paperwork and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be highly motivated with good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Requires computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.

Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling heavy equipment, bending, stooping, climbing, carrying, outdoor work and working alone for long periods of time with or without accommodation. Must be able to wear a respirator and any other required personal protective equipment.

A Post-offer background check and the ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a variety of settings including office and laboratory environments, as well as in outdoor areas. Will frequently stand, walk, sit, kneel, crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, etc.), reach/work overhead, frequently lift/carry/push/pull heavy objects that weigh up to 50 pounds and perform desk-based computer tasks. Will wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator.
