The Methodist Home for Children and Youth is Hiring a Behavioral Health Technician-Assessment Center Near Macon, GA

The Methodist Home has been restoring childhoods, strengthening families and building people for over 150 years. We are looking for people who would like to help us achieve our mission to provide healing and hope to children and families.

The Methodist Home is seeking to fill full time, overnight, and weekend positions. This position provides for the day to day care, nurturing, supervision, and development of the youth whose age ranges from 6 to 20.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for active direct supervision of all residents assigned to his/her supervision in all activities both on and off campus in accordance with established standards.
  • Develop and follow a daily structure for clients.
  • Provides one on one direct behavioral intervention with individuals and families as identified in the individual or families’ service plan.
  • Assists with the replacement of inappropriate behaviors with developmentally appropriate skills to increase adaptive functioning in the community.
  • Assists with learning of appropriate self-management skills including problem solving, decision making, communication, conflict resolution, anger management, social and recreational skills.
  • Assists the individuals and families to engage in, or remain engaged in, appropriate activities.
  • Actively participate in team meetings to discuss risk assessments, Functional Analysis of Behavior, Red Flag, etc. to contribute to the ongoing assessment of changes in resident’s behaviors and status.
  • Implement the multi-disciplinary team plan of care, as well as Individual Service Plans, Risk Assessments, Functional Analysis of Behavior, etc. for residents.
  • Assure quality services for residents by enforcing rules, regulations, legal requirements and following policies of the agency.
  • Learn and effectively utilize applicable electronic software for documentation of resident notes, incident reports, medication logs, etc

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Receive satisfactory results for a pre-employment physical, ten panel drug screen and TB test.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a Human Service field; One year demonstrated experience working with youth, experience in residential setting.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License with minimum of four-year driving history and the ability to meet and remain in good standing in accordance with Agency insurance guidelines.
  • Knowledge of childcare practices, developmental issues, and group processes and practices, which are important to this position.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated skills related to theory and practices for emotionally disturbed children.
  • Personal characteristics and experiential background that will provide appropriate care for children, to win their respect, to guide them in their development, to manage a home for them effectively and to participate in the overall treatment program designed for the residents.
  • Necessary stamina and temperament to work with adolescents who are experiencing crisis and/or emotional and/or behavior disorders.

Required Safety/Background Checks: All applicants considered for hire must consent, and receive clearance from, the following local, state and national agencies:
Bibb County Sheriff's Department
Department of Human Services (fingerprint required)
Department of Juvenile Justice (fingerprint required)
Motor Vehicle Record (must have a valid license for four consecutive years and applicant/driving record must be approved by our insurance carrier)
Child Abuse Registry, Department of Corrections, Pardons and Parole, Sex Offenders Registry, Medicaid Fraud
