The Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene... is Hiring a Residential Counselor Near Hudson, NY

Are you looking for a new career in Human Services and would like hands on experience? Do you currently work in the Human Services Field but would like a new challenge? The Residential Division of the Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties, Inc. has multiple programs licensed by OMH and certified and working hands on in a residential program is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who have great people skills and have not had the opportunity to work in the Human Services field.

The Mental Health Association is currently seeking Residential Counselors, full time, part time, and per-diem. Evening, night and weekend availability. Not sure about starting a full-time job? Ask about a Respite opportunity and learn the position on a per-diem basis. If you find that this job is exciting for you, you can transition to full time or part time. These positions are located in Columbia and Greene Counties, and various schedules are available. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about mental health and human services while increasing hands on experience.

Current Openings include:

Hudson Community Apartment (8 Green Acres Rd. Hudson, NY 12534), Full Time: Friday and Saturday nights 8p-8a, Monday and Tuesday days 10a-6p.

Columbia Street Apartments (900 Columbia Street, Hudson, NY 12534) Part Time: Saturday 4p-8p and Sunday 8a-12a.

High Cliff Terrace (30 High Cliff Terrace, Catskill, NY 12414) 2 Full Time: Saturday and Sunday overnight 12a-8a, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings 4p-12a. Thursday-Sunday overnight 12a-8a, and Wednesday day 10a-6p.

Philmont Hearth (10 Maple Avenue, Philmont, NY 12565) 2 Full Time: evening, nights, and weekends schedule TBD.

Pay rate is $15.75-$16.00 an hour.

The role of the Residential Counselor is to provide the support needed to maximize the successful integration of participants into independent community living. Counselors provide support, guidance and hands on assistance in learning and relearning skills of independent daily living while providing contact and instruction to promote wellness and recovery. Programs offer structure, coordination of services and act as liaisons to other agencies.

Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a HS diploma or equivalency. College experience and one year experience in Human Services preferred.
  • Applicant must be able to work independently and as a team member.
  • Experience working with psychiatric disabled adults and knowledge of provider agencies in both Columbia & Greene Counties is a plus, though not required.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
  • Must be reliable and have excellent verbal, written, communication, electronic and interpersonal skills.
  • Should be proficient in computer skills with the aptitude to learn additional software and data entry programs. Effective and efficient documentation skills are a must.

All offers are contingent on the candidate’s ability to obtain a Statewide Central Registry and Fingerprint clearance and must have a valid NYS Driver’s License and a clean MVR.

Benefits

The Full-Time positions are 40 hours per week and benefits include: Medical, Dental, Life Benefit.
