Reporting to the Director of Student Support Services and the Division Director(s), the Learning Strategist will provide targeted executive functioning and organizational support to improve student outcomes. They are an integral team member who will work closely with students, teachers, families, and counselors. The work of the Learning Strategist aligns with the school’s mission to support all students’ academic achievement.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• Special Education credential, experience or license preferred
• A strong knowledge base in the area of learning differences, especially in supporting students with ADHD and SLD
• Flexible and creative team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide regular check-ins for students with SSPs inclusive of review of upcoming assignments and those not turned in, as well as support with organizational and other skills such as note-taking and study strategies
• Provide in-school testing accommodations for standardized testing, finals, and regular classroom tests and quizzes
• Manage after school tutoring space, inclusive of work with student tutors and consultants in the Tutoring and Writing Centers after school
• Case management of students with accommodation plans (Student Success Plans -SSPs)
• Facilitate and support student self-advocacy with teachers
• Oversee student applications for standardized/high stakes testing; proctor
• Check in with students to discuss accommodations
• Participate in staff meetings regarding students on their caseload
• Revise and review extant SSPs with students and families
• Collaborate with school counselors, teaching faculty, and other team members to ensure optimal student support
• Help to educate faculty, students, and parents on topics relevant to learning differences and cultivating a network of community professionals to support students and families (inclusive of establishing or advising a Learning Differences Club)
