THE ROLE
The Hotel House person reports to the Director of Housekeeping. The hotel house person provides housekeepers with the items needed to clean guest rooms and helps stock the carts. They are also responsible for more labor-intensive tasks, such a flipping mattress, hanging pictures and moving furniture or debris. They also work closely with hotel supervisors to ensure that all room accessories and electronics are in working order. It's also the houseman's responsibility to comply with security regulations, restock the housekeeping shelves, and make sure that outside areas, like patios and pool areas, are kept clean, tidy and in working order.
Additionally, the hotel house person takes care of common areas in a hotel, such as the lobby, restrooms and pool area. Each hotel follows its own housekeeping guidelines and standards, which may depend on whether it's part of a large chain or a boutique inn. As part of the housekeeping staff, a houseman must be detail-oriented, have good customer service skills, be able to lift heavy items and understand cleaning basics.
This position will interact with everyone in the hotel so you must have strong and adaptable interpersonal skills, meaning you can get along with anyone. Another key need for this role is their ability organize drinks as customers place their order. Getting the details right for a client or guest can possibly make or break their experience.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Uphold and role model the company’s principles of People, Place and Character; and ensure you are also modeling the way of our values that drive collaboration, intuition and translocal hospitality; use discretion and respect the privacy of the hotel’s clients and guest
- Maintain and clean a hotel behind the scenes by helping the housekeepers
- Clean hallways, floors, and doorways; and taking out the trash
- Assist with needs of the housekeepers during shifts to remove linen and other required tasks
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Previous work experience within Housekeeping
- A flexible schedule, as sometimes you may have to work evenings, weekends, or a holiday as events don’t only happen during the week
