The Match Artist is Hiring a Professional Photographer Near Minneapolis, MN

The Match Artist is seeking a photographer to join our fast-growing company. We are seeking a candidate in Minneapolis.

The Match Artist transforms online dating profiles through intriguing and artistic photography. We help guys get more dates via dating apps by accurately capturing their hobbies and lifestyle in photos. We are currently a team of 8.

Many of the shoots will be in the MSP area, but we also shoot throughout the US– so we want someone who is passionate about travel and shooting in different cities.

Job Description

We do photoshoots throughout the whole U.S. A typical session will last 4-6 hours.

You will work directly with our team to ensure the best client experience.

We love the small team environment, and we want you to as well. We want someone spontaneous who is down to shoot locally, as well as travel for photoshoots.

Before going into photography duties, I'll walk through a bit more about the history of our company. We got started with our founding photographer using his newly learned facial expression coaching on our other founder. These photos had a profound enough difference on a number of men's online dating profiles, that we figured we could start a company around it. Four years later, we are shooting nationally with our core clients generally being engineers, finance, CEOs and executives. For the people we work with, a photo brand of them is extremely valuable, builds their confidence, and ensures they find a happy dating life.

We've grown to learn that what we're providing is far more than photography. This is a deliberate lifestyle change that these guys are seeking to be content with their dating lives. Many of the sessions are part photography, and the rest being a person to listen to them and help them out of their shell when dating and relationships isn't something they usually talk about. This leads the job to be far more rewarding than the average client shoot. You'll be helping them feel confident in their photos and moving them toward a dating life they deserve.

You'll be trained on facial expression coaching and mimicking our photography style and framing.

For each shoot you will be responsible for:

  • Reading through the client's questionnaire brainstorming with them on a phone call about potential shoot ideas.
  • Put together a tentative itinerary for what will be covered during the shoot.
  • 4-6 hour shoot with client (see below for what a typical shoot might look like)
  • Uploading RAW photos to Dropbox (no editing required)
  • Communicate with our team when photos are finished uploading
  • Delivering photos to the client when editing is finished.

We want to be as thorough as possible to enable you to show our client's personality in photographs. You will be working with our clients to teach them the following skills (training will be provided).

  • Facial Expression Coaching
  • How to dress for their shoot
  • General prep

Before each shoot, you will work with our clients to create a fun lifestyle shoot. You will plan locations, ideas, and what you're looking to get out of the shoot.

Day of Shoot

Each shoot is tailored to our client's interests, but here are some general similarities among most shoots.

Location

This will depend on the situation, but often times it will start at the client's house/apartment or a hotel. We need a base location to keep our clothing / props, as well as the facial expression coaching at the beginning.

Coaching

You'll go through the facial expression coaching in person in front of a mirror with our client. You will help our clients pick out the best clothes in their wardrobe for their shoot.

Shoot

You'll take some initial headshots after the coaching to practice a bit.

After the headshots we begin taking lifestyle photos. We're trying to make these photos look like they weren't taken on the same day. To do this, you'll be helping our clients switch shirts, and create variety within each shoot. We're trying to get through at least 10-15 shirt changes. You'll capture our client's unique hobbies (cooking, yoga, piano, etc.) and show them at their best.

Since each shoot is tailored to the client, you might end up in a kayak, on a racetrack, at a rock climbing wall, or whatever they are looking to capture.

At this point you'll bring our clients to visit an area with a number of options available for shooting. A central place with cafes, bars, and restaurants. You'll get shots of the client being social in these areas, as well as walking shots, sitting on a bench, etc.—whatever happens spontaneously in the moment.

Please complete the audio portion of the application if you are able!
