The Maryland School for the Blind (MSB) is Hiring a Board Certified Behavior Analyst Near Baltimore, MD

Description:

SUMMARY: With supervision, provides psychometric and behavioral services, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Essential Functions:

  • Administers and scores selected psychological assessment.
  • Instruments, takes note of student behavior during testing.
  • Works with Licensed or School Psychologist to determine assessment needs of individual students, presents test results in table or graphic form for inclusion in assessments written by Psychologist.
  • Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments and writes Behavior Intervention Plans (with team input); provides consultation to IEP teams with regard to improving student behavior.

Marginal Functions:

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS:

Equipment Used: Selected test materials, stop watch, personal computer, tape recorder, telephone.

Performance Standard: Must consistently demonstrate clinical competence in all areas of performance within recognized standards for Psychometrists.

Work Environment: Multiple indoor environments, on and off campus, with a variety of sound, lighting, and temperature conditions.

Work Schedule: 35 hours per week with 30-60 minute lunch period. Additional time may be required for job completion. Frequent flextime scheduling occurs. This position has an annual 11-month schedule.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, skills, and general abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of administration and scoring of Psychological Assessments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data collection, functional assessment and behavior modification techniques.
  • General knowledge of normal and abnormal human development, including a general knowledge of the impact of children's psychosocial problems on learning and classroom behavior.
  • Basic knowledge of the disabled child.
  • Minimum of Masters Degree in Psychology. Must have 2 years psychology experience.
  • Basic knowledge of computer literacy.

After the first year in this position, the employee is required to have:

  • General knowledge of: visual impairment/blindness relative to testing and social-emotional development; behavioral management techniques used with multiply disabled students; IDEA regulations and service implications; MSB policies and procedures.

Mental Abilities:

  • Ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read journals and text material, as well as professional reports from a variety of disciplines.
  • Ability to present assessment data in tables/graphs, using proper formats, spelling, grammar, punctuation.
  • Ability to convey behavioral information on a person-to-person basis, clearly and distinctly so that it is easily understood.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to perform effectively under stress.
  • Ability to make judgments and decisions in a collaborative environment.

Physical Abilities:

  • Ability to push 100 pounds and lift up to 20 pounds.

PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITIES:

  • Ability to cope with problems in the focused area of responsibility.
  • Ability to determine when to refer non-routine problems to the supervisor.
