The Martin Agency is Hiring a Senior Social Strategist Near Richmond, VA

The Martin Agency is seeking to fill a new position, Senior Social Strategist to join our rapidly growing social team in Martin’s Cultural Impact Lab. Our mission? Fighting invisibility and impacting culture. This role reports to the VP, Head of Social and will grow and develop the agency’s social capabilities.

As part of the Cultural Impact Lab, the social team is the go-to for everything that is socially impactful or relevant for our clients. More than monitors, post queuers and response reps — we're audience listeners, wavemakers, and impact engineers.

Social media will experience a significant shift in 2024. The tipping point of AI adoption, large language models, influencer partnerships/NIL, and major social platform changes will unlock opportunities for better brand storytelling for the boldest clients. We’re looking for a senior social strategist with the expertise to navigate this exciting moment on one of our newest accounts.

This role requires a fluency in social strategy & playbook development, presentation ability that earns the trust of clients, deep curiosity about how audiences behave, distilling complex concepts into simple ideas, and the ability to scale ideas from social posts to larger activations in a tightly written brief.

Internally, this role embraces its responsibility as a true collaborator to creative teams eager to learn and partner with us. While this role can be remote, there is a preference for east coast candidates as the position will require working in EST zone.

YOUR IMPACT 

  • Strong strategic understanding of the roles of organic, paid social, and influencers in building brands and businesses
  • Strong tactical knowledge of social media channels, platform features, platform limitations, and content trends/series
  • Finger firmly on the pulse of pop culture, consumer trends, current events, the ability to map the implications for your brand, and distill how a brand has permission to participate in the conversation
  • Lead development of social media artifacts for executive level clients: thought leadership pieces, prescriptive social strategy playbooks, community management guidelines (alongside our social media managers), trend reports, and legal and regulatory updates 
  • Act as the day-to-day client consultant on social media strategy (organic & paid), lead client meetings and manage client communications
  • Lead social campaigns and activations in partnership with creative teams and community managers ensuring campaign goals and benchmarks are met
  • Support strategy on influencer/creator programs and activations in partnership with the agency influencer partnerships director.
  • Partner with analysts to set social frameworks and benchmarks, develop strategic narratives for performance reports, and back up creative ideas with data-driven insights 
  • Write concise monthly and quarterly organic social briefs across multiple social platforms that can grow beyond social into IRL activations and stunts
  • Be conversant in adjacent strategic disciplines — brand and comms — and comfortable collaborating on and contributing to the overall strategic vision of the brands in our care
  • Brief creative and production teams with high-impact ideas, inspiration, and insights 
  • Lead and contribute to our team’s presence in new business pitches and business development efforts 
  • Own and continue to build strong relationships with strategic platform partners (TikTok, Meta, Twitch, Snap, Reddit, X, etc.)

YOU HAVE...

  • 4-6 years of social media experience in advertising, public relations/communications, marketing, entertainment, journalism/newsroom, or content fields 
  • Proven track record concepting, delivering, and executing high-impact social media programs for leading brands
  • Experience owning and writing prescriptive social strategy playbooks
  • Experience on CPG accounts or similar
  • Adept at writing social briefs that simplify, clarify and inspire
  • Experience onboarding new clients into an agency and developing trust with key decision makers
  • Excellent writing skills and can deliver decks with both strategy & storytelling 
  • Strong presenter who can own the room and deliver clear next steps
  • Understanding of qualitative and quantitative research techniques and methodologies 
  • Experience with social listening tools (TalkWalker, Helixa, BrandWatch or similar tools)
  • Experience with social publishing platforms (Sprinklr, Hootsuite or similar platforms)
