The Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh has an exciting opportunity for the Summer of 2024! 

The Food Beverage Operations Internship program offers the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and first-hand practical experience in many aspects of hotel and food beverage operations. This opportunity will provide exposure to multiple departments while developing relationships with leaders and employees in the field.

The F B Operations Internship is a paid position and will last approximately 12 weeks. The program will provide rotations in some/all of the following departments: Food Beverage, Sales Catering, Engineering, Accounting, and People Culture. 

Within F B, you will have exposure to The Commoner, The Biergarten, In Room Dining and Banquets.

What You'll Do

• Rotate through the functional areas of the property to gain an understanding of how each department contributes to the success of the hotel and restaurant.
• Develop skills and leadership under the guidance of the departmental leaders through hands-on work and shadowing.
• Assist guests when needed.
• Learn the operational workings of each department by observation of team members, participation in meetings, asking questions, and special departmental projects.
• Provide input into the development and implementation of services and processes.
• Comply with company policies and procedures of each department in a satisfactory manner.
• Assist each department head with assigned operational functions and help with strategic plan for the department.
• Completing tasks by utilizing and learning systems, tools, equipment, and software that apply.

What You Bring

• Experience in hospitality, service, or customer-facing role with some leadership experience is preferred.
• Able to work on rotating shifts (including overnight) and be flexible in terms of schedule.
• Excellent attention to detail and are a self starter.
• Excellent communication skills, are eager to learn and grow, have a can-do attitude, and have an affinity for hospitality.
