We are currently seeking a Director of Sales & Marketing to come be a part of an enriching environment where every associate is valued and encouraged to grow.

The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for soliciting new accounts, entertaining and maintaining relationships with existing accounts. They will also assist the Director of Catering and any other managers with clients and hotel personnel in the handling of catering and sales accounts.

Responsibilities:

  • Account prospecting, solicitation, and development via telephone, personal contact, outside calls, correspondence, email and other means of communication.
  • Conduct hotel site inspections, entertain both in house and off property, and maintain thorough follow up methods.
  • Work to represent hotel in market through networking events.
  • Represent hotel at trade shows, civic/business functions, industry-related associations, and other events to promote the hotel and/or the city.
  • Prepare and present proposals and contracts both written and verbal in a prompt, accurate, profitable, pleasant and professional manner.
  • Prepare and present portions of strategic plan and budgets for hotel
  • Assist in the supervision & training of staff, goal setting, and other departmental activities.
  • Communication of all special needs and changes to the staff responsible for ensuring completion of requirements.
  • Know the function space and how it works in detail along with appropriate set ups and turn times.
  • Travel to meet with or call clients by telephone to solicit new catering business for all areas of the hotel.
  • Responsible for a monetary goal to be mutually agreed upon by the Director of Sales, General Manager and the Vice President of Sales and Marketing/Revenue Generation.
  • Develop client menus, write contracts and letters, as well as organize other arrangements as they relate to social and/or corporate events.
  • Meet all in-house contacts at the start of each function to ensure the guest satisfaction of event.
  • Supervise and attend the overall set up and implementation of social events and meetings. Communicate with relevant departments to ensure proper servicing of accounts.
  • Prepare and present weekly sales reports and monthly Catering forecast for period end.
  • Regular attendance at all meetings to include Staff and Sales and Food and Beverage meetings.
  • Promptly answer telephone calls following hotel standards in a professional and customer focused manner.
  • Work cooperatively with Group Rooms Manager to achieve 100% customer service assistance goal for all telephone communication and requests for service.
  • Conduct contract review and facilitate communication before, during and post event with pertinent hotel staff to ensure a high level of service.
  • Distribute memos, contracts, Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), and amenities to relevant departments throughout the hotel.
  • Maintain the change log book and distribute change logs according to procedure as needed.
  • Knowledge of hotel guest rooms and rates in order to sell sleeping rooms for catering groups.
  • Ensure all catering billing is established. Ensure all A/V equipment is ordered and billed properly for functions.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Four-year college degree preferred, however, any combination of education and training within hotel sales and/or event planning may also be considered.\
  • At least one year of prior Sales experience required, prior Senior Sales experience preferred.
  • Proficient computer knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Basic mathematical skills that allow for calculation of room blocks, average rates, and forecast information.
  • Ability to travel. Reliable transportation required for weekly outside sales calls.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
  • Ability to work independently while accepting ongoing training and supervision.
  • Strong willingness to learn the designated market(s).
  • Ability to effectively network and market our property.
  • Strong multiple project management skills.
  • Ability to analyze client needs and negotiate pricing.
