Area Director Position Profile

The Area Director is responsible for achieving set revenue budgets in their specified region. Additional duties include supporting school Directors in overall financial management, building enrollment, managing expenses, developing sales strategies, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions

Sales and Business Management

  • Achieve regional revenue and expense budgets.
  • Ensure schools meet required sales conversions including building lead generation and developing marketing plans.
  • Encourage and participate in community events to increase brand/school recognition and affinity.
  • Supervise Executive Directors on all areas of financial management including building enrollment, managing current and future enrollment, and controlling expenses and payroll.
  • Develop short and long-term growth plans, while providing new ideas, tools, and methods to attract and maintain a strong customer and Executive Director-base.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to increase school efficiency.

Hiring, Training, Coaching & Development

  • In partnership with Human Resources, interview Executive Director Candidates and perform hiring procedures and assigned training components.
  • Develop and conduct frequent and focused training and meetings for the Executive Directors.
  • Guide Executive Directors in leadership and expectations of personnel, especially in the development of the Directors of Education.
  • Evaluate strengths and weaknesses of Executive Directors and develop plans, programs, and annual evaluations to address and set goals.
  • Determine when an Executive Director change is needed and take steps to manage a smooth transition and mitigate negative impact.
  • Ensure ongoing professional development of Executive Directors, making recommendations, performing internal training, and tracking participation.
  • Ensure schools maintain needed results on the Best Practice Assessments (BPA) and Quality Standards Review (QSR); coordinate with the Program department if more support is needed.

Customer Service and Operational Management

  • Maintain positive communication with parents and staff and use site visits to demonstrate leadership, identify issues, and gauge the wellness of the school.
  • Address, as needed, concerns from staff and parents.
  • Ensure communication happens with the Program Department on programmatic needs for schools or Directors of Education.
  • Regularly review facilities and equipment, identifying capital needs and determining fulfillment plans. At least one full Business Visit per school quarter.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies.

Required Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree and five to seven years of documented experience.
  • At least three years of multi-site management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in training and developing.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, public speaking, problem-solving, time management, and decision-making skills are required.
  • Demonstrated personal and professional integrity, high energy level, and a passion for superior customer service at all levels.
  • Exceptional team leadership skills including the ability to effectively coach, motivate, and empower team members.
  • High-level customer interaction skills and the ability to build and sustain trusted relationships both internally and externally.
  • Strong background in analysis, critical decision-making, and process improvement.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday. Hours are flexible between the opening hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This position affords occasional time to the office from home based on the amount of time needed in the field.

This position is a field-based position and travel within the region is required.
