The Madeira School is Hiring a Director of Multicultural Outreach & Recruitment Near Mc Lean, VA

The Madeira School is an independent boarding and day school that educates girls in grades 9-12. The scenic
376-acre campus is just 10 miles from Washington, DC. Enrolling 335 students from 21 states and 38 countries,
Madeira was founded with the vision of leading innovation in girls’ education and the mission of launching
women who change the world.
The Madeira School seeks a Director of Multicultural Outreach & Recruitment to join its admissions team.
Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management, and in collaboration with the Director of Financial Aid
and other members of the admissions team, the Director of Multicultural Outreach & Recruitment attracts,
recruits and enrolls mission and program appropriate students for The Madeira School and leads the School’s
efforts in multicultural outreach and recruitment.
Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a multicultural and international recruitment strategy in partnership
with the Director of Enrollment Management, Director of Financial Aid, and admissions team
to ensure student enrollment goals are met
  • Travel on behalf of the School and plan and attend recruitment events and functions to
promote Madeira in core and new markets domestically and abroad
  • Research and explore opportunities to penetrate new international markets
  • Help plan, coordinate, and execute recruitment events and activities on campus
  • Engage and collaborate with other departments, current students and families, and alumns in
the recruitment and retention of multicultural students
  • Identify, initiate, and build parentships with community-based organizations, programs,

consultants, agents, and feeder schools that identify talented and mission-appropriate
applicants

  • Pilot and evaluate the success of new programs and initiatives to recruit students with current
program-aligned special talents
  • Develop and monitor statistics and monthly reports to enhance recruitment strategies and
conversion and yield rates
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of, and effectively communicate, Madeira’s unique
programs, curriculum and initiatives
  • Serve as a liaison to the Dean of Student Life & Culture Office as it relates to programming and
support for multicultural student groups and activities
  • Interview applicants and submit timely summaries after each interview in the application
portal
  • Provide on-going consultation and proactive communication with prospective students,
families, and other external constituents
  • Review and evaluate applications from assigned recruitment group and serve on the
admissions selection committee
  • Maintain industry knowledge and trends, including technology and data management skills

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years previous admissions experience preferred; successful track record of recruiting students
  • Ability to effectively communicate in person and in writing, and give engaging presentations to small

and large groups

  • Excellent time management, problem solving, teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Possess high energy, strong attention to detail, and the ability to organize effectively and work

independently and be driven to accomplish goals

  • Discretion and sensitivity to confidential matters
  • Valid driver’s license and passport for international travel and ability to work some nights and

weekends

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, and organizational skills; ability to communicate
effectively with students, faculty and parents
  • Appreciation of and commitment to boarding and/or single sex education
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural competencies and a commitment to inclusive and equitable practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, administrators, faculty, and outside
professionals
