Organization Profile
LCMS Communications is responsible for informing, reporting and interpreting the Synod’s purpose, program and position to its members and for promoting an increased understanding on the part of the church’s public of the mission of the church and its positions and programs.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to the Director of Digital Media Production
Essential Job Functions
  • Serve as editor, camera operator and in other production positions and duties as required on various multi- and single-camera studio and on-location productions.
  • Record, edit/assemble, and distribute various video episodes, segments, seminars, presentations and lectures in a variety of media formats.
  • Assist in the pre-production process with project producer/director.
  • Perform and/or oversee dubbing and transcoding requests.
  • Create, distribute, and maintain appropriate pre-production and production documents including production timelines, scripts, releases, rights, program information forms and other related documentation for department as required.
  • Color correct and retouch high-resolution digital images, including video footage, photographs, graphics and other electronic design elements.
  • Remain current with industry standards and technologies with regard to post-production imaging and applicable hardware and software.
  • Maintain and continually develop expertise in most current versions of Adobe Photoshop, Apple Motion, Adobe After Effects, Apple Compressor, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Audition, Apple Final Cut Pro X and the Macintosh Platform.
  • Be proficient in the use of Wondershare, Adobe Encore or similar DVD authoring software.
  • Be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Possess solid communications skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative production team.
  • Be willing to work overtime if necessary.
  • Execute general and special video assignments requiring professionalism and technical expertise using digital video and still cameras including candid coverage of activities and special events.
  • Work within Photoshop to prepare for production and archiving of digital images.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in field related to video/digital film production and three years of professional experience or Associate degree in related field and five years of professional experience.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Evidence of creative story-telling capability and technical skill demonstrated within a portfolio of video projects.
Skilled at video editing asset preparation and organization.
Competence with all types of camera systems, audio gear and related equipment, especially the Canon Cinema EOS Camera System.
Digital imaging skills: use of digital camera, digital processing with Photoshop and related software and outputting images for video production.
Demonstrate motivated and flexible work ethic in order to function as a fully participating member of the digital media/video production team.
