The Lighthouse Mission is Hiring a Temporary Restoration Technician Near Bellingham, WA

Are you passionate about helping others, excited to participate in our ministry, and love working in a hands-on environment? This could be the opportunity for you! LMM is seeking a temporary full-time Restoration Technician to help assist with day-to-day maintenance during the completion of Lighthouse Mission Ministry’s new facility project and its anticipated opening as well as assisting with planning, logistics and execution of relocation into the Lighthouse Mission's new facility.

Lighthouse Mission Ministries Operations team promotes a physical environment that embodies hospitality, safety and accessibility. The facilities endeavor toward peace and quietude in support of Christian holistic recovery -- a living sanctuary. Participants are invited to be custodians of their own living spaces and common areas, partnering in the practices of recycling, conservation of energy, and general upkeep.

Position Description: The ideal candidate will perform general maintenance, improve upon the functionality, orderliness, cleanliness and appearance of Lighthouse Mission buildings, grounds and equipment in a way that seeks to glorify God by promoting an environment that illustrates the future beauty of God’s coming Kingdom; and, offering hope to all who are witness to the work of God at the Lighthouse Mission so they may come to know Christ as Lord and Savior. 

Position Schedule & Duration: This is a full-time non-exempt temporary position with an expected start date preferably beginning 06/03/2024, with possible flexibility determined on a case-by-case basis. The temporary position is expected to end on 10/30/2024. Schedule expectations include 40 hours per week as a full-time employee.

Responsibilities (included but are not limited to):

  • Receives instructions from the Chief Infrastructure Officer or Senior Restoration Tech
  • Assists with planning, logistics and execution of relocation into the Lighthouse Mission's new facility
  • This includes, but is not limited to: cleaning, significant moving of many heavy objects, volunteer coordination, collaboration with contractors, equipment installation, IT setup, landscaping and other tasks as needed for the move
  • Performs work according to standard procedure and by building's operational schedule
  • Makes needed carpentry, electrical, plumbing and mechanical repairs
  • Perform major, touch-up and finish painting
  • Assists with driving duties as needed
  • Assists with general cleaning as needed
  • Assists with grounds maintenance as needed
  • Practices appropriate safety procedures while performing maintenance
  • Reports work accomplished to supervisor and logs it in the Work Request Log
  • Promote a God-glorifying work ethic among program and transitional men through classes, conversations, meetings and partnership on work projects.
  • Represent Lighthouse Mission Ministries as professionally as possible with a variety of people including other LMM staff, guests, volunteers, and the general public. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license and be able to drive LMM vehicles
  • Ability to use MS Word, Gmail, and Google Calendar
  • Ability to successfully pass pre-employment criminal background screenings and comply with our drug-free workplace policies.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education/ experience
  • Must be experienced in Information Technology (IT)
  • Must have general experience in performing all types of minor repairs with a desire to perform tasks in an efficient manner
  • Must have knowledge and experience with vehicle maintenance 
  • Ability to research and apply learned knowledge to maintenance tasks, understand maintenance problems and identify effective lasting solutions
  • Must have a compassionate heart for the poor and hurting of society and be able to relate to community members and Lighthouse Mission guests
  • Must maintain a collaborative approach to ministry (more than just maintenance) and have a desire to share gospel hope with guests, volunteers and others while maintaining a healthy work ethic and disciplined lifestyle

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

  • Ability to report as regularly scheduled to the work-site
  • Standing 30%; walking 60%; sitting 10%; ability to walk up and down stairs
  • Seldom medium to heavy lifting from 50-100lbs. 
  • Possible exposure to a variety of illnesses and unsanitary substances
  • Both inside and outside activities regardless of weather
  • Ability to travel between LMM locations and access and navigate each department at LMM facilities
