Data and Virtualization Specialist
Full Time Position
Reports to Chief Information Officer
Job Summary
The Data and Virtualization Specialist is a key member of the IT team at The Lexington School, responsible
for managing and optimizing data management processes and virtualized server environments. This role
involves overseeing data integration, storage, and retrieval, as well as designing, deploying, and maintaining
virtualized infrastructure to support the school's IT operations. The Data and Virtualization Specialist will
collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure data integrity, security, and availability, while also
leveraging virtualization technologies to enhance scalability, efficiency, and resource utilization.
Essential Functions
Data Management and Integration:
Design and implement data management strategies, including data modeling, storage, and
integration across multiple sources and formats.
Ensure data quality and integrity through data validation, cleansing, and normalization
processes.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements, develop data pipelines, and
automate data workflows to support business operations and decision-making.
Virtualization Infrastructure Management:
Plan, deploy, and maintain virtualized server environments using technologies such as
VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or KVM.
Configure virtual machines (VMs), virtual networks, and storage resources to optimize
performance, scalability, and resource utilization.
Monitor virtualization infrastructure health and performance, troubleshoot issues, and
implement solutions to ensure system reliability and availability.
Manage storage systems, SAN/NAS devices, and backup solutions to ensure efficient data
storage, retrieval, and protection.
Backup and Disaster Recovery:
Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for data and virtualized environments,
including regular backups, replication, and failover procedures.
Test and validate backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and minimize
downtime in the event of system failures or disasters.
Security and Compliance:
Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as
GDPR, CCPA, and FERPA.
Implement security controls and access policies to protect sensitive data, monitor for
security threats, and respond to security incidents as needed.

Performance Optimization:
Optimize the performance of virtualized environments and data systems through capacity
planning, resource allocation, and performance tuning.
Identify opportunities for infrastructure optimization and efficiency improvements,
leveraging virtualization technologies and best practices.
Documentation and Training:
Create and maintain documentation for data management processes, virtualization
configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
Provide training and support to IT staff and end-users on data management best practices,
virtualization technologies, and related topics.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent
experience).
Minimum of 5-years of experience in data management, virtualization, or a related IT field.
Proficiency in database management, data integration, and ETL processes.
Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or
KVM.
Strong understanding of data security principles and best practices.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure
Administrator Associate, or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
