SUMMARY

Our Head Start Teachers provide high-quality early childhood services in a successful, safe, and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the Head Start environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips). They promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children and encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program. Our Head Start Teachers develop individual goals for children, provide an ongoing assessment on progress and facilitate transition into kindergarten. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for planning and implementation of age appropriate activities that foster the cognitive emotional and physical growth of young children which is inclusive of children with special needs.
  • Ensures that the classroom and classroom staff follows regulations set forth in the Head Start Performance Standards, the Employee Hand Book, and licensing requirements. 
  • Provides opportunities for the integration of other service areas (health, mental, nutrition safety). 
  • Responsible for weekly lesson plans, written reports, personal observations, screenings and assessments.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K) or related field.
  • Pre-School thru Grade 3 (P3) New Jersey State Certification; Certificate of Eligibility; Provisional Certificate; Special Education Certificate
  • Minimum of 1 years of teaching
