Title: Behavior Assistant
Reports to: Emotional Disabilities Coordinator, Behavior Specialist
FTE: 1.0/185 days
Rate: $20/hour
Hours: 7.5 hours with a 30 minute duty free lunch
Position/Role Summary: Primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior-analytic services, team support and staff training. Will be responsible for assisting in the implementing systematic behavior plans and assistance in crisis situations.
Qualifications: Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Certification from the Illinois State Board of Education. Coursework in psychology, human development, child development, classroom management, and/or human behavior, and/or Registered Behavior Technician certification preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:
Makes decisions and demonstrates leadership that supports the mission, vision, goals, and interests of the program.
Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, staff, students, and families.
Works with classroom staff implementing behavior plans and assists teachers in maintaining student discipline and classroom procedures.
Debrief/problem solve with students and staff after a crisis to help prevent future occurrences.
Assists staff with classroom set up and materials to assist with classroom procedures.
Lifts and transports students, as needed. No weight restrictions.
Assists with the setup of behavioral data collection procedures.
Implements the classroom behavior management program as well as individual student’s behavior plans.
Assists students during crisis situations utilizing appropriate Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) techniques.
Assists with direct service in both a classroom setting the school environment.
Participates in training as required by the program coordinator.
Actively participate in monthly supervision meetings.
Attends classroom team meetings to assist in behavioral problem solving.
Accurately collects and analyzes relevant data.
Communicates learning and behavioral difficulties encountered by students to the teacher and coordinator
Serves as a source of information and support to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the teacher or paraprofessional.
Assist in completing all relevant documents relating to behavioral plans, incidents, and data.
Participates in staff meetings (as appropriate) and in-service training programs.
Works with the principal, teachers and other building staff to foster a positive and efficient school atmosphere.
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Observes and follows all LADSE policies and procedures.
