Job DescriptionIndustrial Painter (2 openings)Jacksonville Plant- Maxwell House CoffeeThis non-union hourly position will provide technical direction as well as painting skills. Paint to coat and protect assets from the elements and natural wear to extend life. Paint and coat building infrastructure to extend life. Paint and coat equipment and all other areas deemed applicable by management to improve the esthetics and pride in the factory, as well as provide safety and hazard awareness.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technician will provide technical guidance, work assignments, and training to others regarding products, procedures & techniques.
  • Technician effectively uses manufacturers' and company manuals and or prints to aid in his or her ability to perform tasks.
  • Technician is able to write specifications and procedures for painting projects.
  • Technician demonstrates and plays an active role in meeting production goals and KPI's.
  • Technician provides solutions to issues or opportunities that contribute to the operation. To include: Quality, Safety and Productivity.
  • Manage inventory on all materials going into and out of storeroom paint shop. Regulate materials, equipment and tools being used.
  • Ensure that the paint shop inventory SDS's are kept up to date, are audited and are accurate at all times, and anything new brought into the facility must have gone through the appropriate channels prior to ordering. (new chemical request procedure)
  • Has a working knowledge of EPA regulations, OSHA regulations & colors, SSPC & NACE surface preparation, Architectural & Industrial Coatings, Hi-Temp Coatings, Floor Coatings, VOC regulations, Preparation and Application Equipment & Tools.
  • Technician can demonstrate consistently the ability to perform duties with minimal supervision. He or she shall fully optimize their use of time in scheduling, inspecting work areas, material assessment, coatings application, safety requirements/notification, coordination with other supervisors/personnel, application of coatings, knowledge of appropriate primers & coatings for different surfaces/elements.
  • Technician must be a certified lift (boom and scissor) driver.
  • Technician is responsible to attend and or complete all required (yearly) safety, quality and or other required communication or training sessions.
  • Technician is responsible to work safely. He or she is responsible to follow compliance and KHMS programs policies or procedures that impact safety and accident prevention such as, machine guarding, confined space, electrical safety, PPE, fall protection, lift truck, and lock/out-tag/out requirements.
  • Technician is responsible in meeting all quality standards, policies and procedures including all GMP's. The quality and name brand of the products produced shall not be sacrificed.
  • Technician is responsible for general housekeeping of his or her area. General work area should be clean and free of hazards. After work is completed, the work area and or shop area shall be clean and organized.
  • Technician should demonstrate support, knowledge and full utilization of facility's computerized maintenance management system (SAP).
  • Technician will play an active and cooperative role in working as a team member of the department and facility. He or she will demonstrate open communication between management, department team members, and facility team members.
  • Technician will follow all environmental standards, policies and procedures.
  • Technician must be available to work different shifts and holidays, especially during shutdowns. Their shift will be considered flex. Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 1st shift 7 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. However, certain jobs will require equipment to not be running or areas not in full production mode. This will require weekend work as part of a flex schedule.
  • Pay Rate: $30.70/hr

Education/Job Knowledge/Experience:

  • Minimum education required- High School Diploma or equivalency

Specialized Job Knowledge or Experience Required:

  • Must have minimum of 3 years of hands-on Industrial painting experience.

Reporting Structure:

  • Receives daily direction from the facility maintenance planner. Role is considered to be a part of the Maintenance Department reporting into maintenance supervisor. Has accountability to the operations supervisor in the area work is being performed.
