The Kobuk is Hiring a Retail Sales Associate Near Anchorage, AK
Job Summary:
We are seeking a friendly, mature and customer-oriented Retail Sales Associate to join our summer team. Our shop is an iconic gift emporium in the heart of downtown. If you have a passion for sales and enjoy working in a fast-paced retail environment, we would love to hear from you. We have shifts 7 days a week, start times range from 8:30am to 12:30 pm. These positions are seasonal, starting at once and lasting until September. There may be opportunity for holiday hours in November and December as well!
At The Kobuk, we treat customers from all over the world like they are entering our living room and we expect our team to do the same!
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers and provide them with outstanding service
- Assist customers in finding the products they are looking for
- Operate cash register and handle cash transactions accurately
- Maintain knowledge of current promotions, discounts, and product features
- Keep the sales floor clean, organized, and visually appealing
- Stock shelves and ensure that products are properly displayed
- Answer customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a professional manner
- Collaborate with team members to achieve sales goals
Experience:
- Previous experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures is a plus
- Basic math skills for handling transactions and calculating discounts
- Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a bonus
- Proficiency in operating a point-of-sale (POS) system
Skills:
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with customers
- Knowledge of retail math principles for calculating discounts and sales tax
- Attention to detail for accurately handling cash transactions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
Must be able to stand on your feet for the majority of your shift. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and go up and down stairs with agility.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 40 per week
